I was not meaning for you to sell it on ebay, it was a price comparison as ebay seems the only other place you can buy the limited edition of the game

Canon EOS 650D for £727.98 from amazon

Well i have just bought this from Amazon, and its the cheapest I could find it. Amazing features, and in my opinion a huge improvement on the 600D, bringing it features form the much more expensive h…

It can be purchased brand new from an Amazon 3rd party (with excellent feedback) for £674 (delivered). A lot cheaper than this deal. I am happy to be a reject if it means that I save over £50!
How this camera at the listed price got voted cold is beyond me.
Some people take brand / model loyalty a little bit too seriously.
and amazon have now increased their price in line with other retailers to £799. so to all you eejets who decided to compare apples to lemons and rate this cold, i hope you burn with the heat that was this deal.
hi 'bouncy99' you mentioned in description "a huge improvement on the 600D, bringing it features form the much more expensive higher eos ranges" i am currently interested in getting the canon 600D as im going into a college course that requires me to buy my first camera as ive only really used pocket sized cameras in the past so in your experience could you please tell me what you think are the huge improvements to this camera compared to the 600D as if they are massively different i may be swayed towards this 650D instead of the 600D

For one thing, the new hybrid sensor, with its phase and contrasts auto focus feature which allows a quicker autofocus.

Another thing, 5fps continuous shooting

Native Eyfi support should you choose to use it

Support for the newer quieter AF lenses, useful for video shooting

Updated metering

the list continues

To be honest, I was tempted by the ebay deal for a 600D @ 437, however their are also a few negative comments about the seller. This is my first DSLR and probably my last for a good while, so I thought that I may as well grab the latest for a reasonable price when compared to other retailers with features taken from the higher models.

but ive heard alot of people mention the focus being rubbish on the 650D i heard... "1. Kit lens doesn't autofocus. 2. Autofocus is crap. You can't use it. 3. Nothing over 800 ISO is usable in any way ever for any reason when dealing with video. Honestly, even going over 400 is bad. So, 1200? That's a lot of crappy noise. " from quite afew people's comments on video's comparing these two camera also that ebay auction you mentioned is that just for the 600D body or does that come with a lens?

It comes with the kit lens. I think its the exact same lens as on the 650D, and if that lens with an af/manual switch doesnt af then id consider it faulty. Anyway its not the lens that is controlling the af logic, its the camera. the lens just does what the camera tells it to do in order to get the subject in focus. Another nice touch with the 650 is (if your an amateur such as myself) is the more compact style touch af where you can touch an area of the screen to focus on that. the HDR lighting feature is nice for getting balanced pictures where a portion is light and a portion is dark, taking an under, over and correctly exposed picture creating a picture with balanced lighting, the handheld night feature which will take several exposures allows images in the dark to be captures without the need of a tripod (but im sure a steady hand is needed) to get good night images. The previews for the 650D have been very promising.
i know but it seems like for that price you'd not get a lens but then again you might and if so then it seems a good price for a 600d i know its not about the lens as that's more of a starting point you have a lens then get used to that then move on as you progress kind of thing and yeah there is the touch feature but apparently eventho you can touch the area you want to focus on then take the shot its focus isn't really that good on the 650d the night feature is a good add but apart from that feature and the new added switch mode from camera to film is a good addition im unsure if its really worth the extra i mean if your going for the 650d i think it might be a better option to get the 70d instead... if you don't want to stretch to that then i think the 600d but i guess its all down to personal opinion and peoples budgets i mean i don't like the new technology in the lens much for what it was claimed to be but the 600d and 650d are quite similar in ways... both have positives and negatives.. im most likely going for the 600d for my first tho if i can find a good deal for the 650d then i may be tempted but atm the 600d works out best for my price range

Canon 70D isnt released and 60D is at least £1200 from a reputable retailer selling uk stock.
Look at the Pentax K5 as another option. Semi-pro weatherproofing, 7fps and all old pentax lenses are backwards compatible on the mount (although not necessarily AF or metering).
