So they should get rid of the For Sale/Trade thread. I suppose you have never bought any thing second hand then. Does that go for Refurbished Laptops mobiles etc, lets forget about dell outlet.

The difference is that the developers don't get paid. While legal, morally it's no better than downloading them, arguably worse.

And sorry, forgot about the for sale/trade forum, i never go there. I was referring to the deals forum rather than the whole site. Start going down the second-hand route and it opens up ebay/car boot sales etc.

Just a personal bugbear i guess, what other industry has over half the shelf-space in its major outlets dedicated to selling second-hand copies?

and how exactly does this mean they don't deserve a cut of the profits when it's sold second hand?

Ever wonder why games are so expensive in the first place in comparison to music and films? They have to be because all the developer's profits are made off the first sale because everyone trades them in because they're so expensive, vicious circle and very lucrative for Gamestation and Game.

Ever wonder why Ferrari are so expensive in the first place in comparison to other cars ?
They have to because all the profits are made on the first sale.

And I bet when the developers have finished with their Ferrari they give them away rather than sell them secondhand and do Ferrari out of another sale...
-----------------------------------------

And game devs profit is NOT just made on the first sale anymore, they also make money from expansions, downloadable content, etc etc even if the current owner of the game brought it secondhand.
They even make money from Toys etc if the game characters become popular.........

Seems strange that its a bugbear of yours yet one of your two posted deals ^^ encourages trading in a NEW game at gamestation for another. Surely they benefit twice from both the £4.99 you give them and the fact the new game will be sold as a new game with ALL profits heading into gamestations pockets?

The posts just seem a wee bit hypocritcal.

The second hand market supports the first hand market. That is a fact.

To explain further, the fact that a game can be sold once finished with allows some people to pay the often-scandalous prices in the first place.

£50? No thanks. £50 but I can sell it for £25 when I'm done? Hmm, okay then.
