I got one of these just over 12 months ago for £85 when Tesco had them on clearance. It's now an obsolete model (replaced by the smaller, rounder 405), but lots of runners still prefer the big screen and ease of use of the 205/305 models.

It's an amazing bit of kit and really helps you train and monitor your runs especially if you find it difficult to judge your pace. It's very customisable so you can choose exactly which fields (from the dozens on offer) you want displayed, with the option of further info screens for less used info (e.g. elevation, last lap pace, calories etc). Garmin have also recently updated their on-line system (Garmin Connect) so you can upload your runs to the web from any PC, rather than limiting yourself to one database. This allows you to keep a full training diary and analyse your runs with graphs and Google earth etc.

For an old model this price doesn't sound like a massive bargain (it's not significantly cheaper than other sites are offering it for), but for the quality and features you get it's well worth the price. Still probably the most common sight you'll see on peoples wrists at the start line of marathons & 10Ks.

I agree with beardyweirdy.

But it is worth mentioning that 'sleek' is hardly an accurate term - perhaps is you are 6'6 and 20 stone, but for someone of more average size, this is a large watch!

If I recall, this is properly waterproof so you can use this if you are into your swimming - the newer 405 is only really splash resistant and not suitable for swimming.

True, and that's definitely your first impression when you take it out of the box. However, because of the shaping it seems much less so when it's actually on your wrist and it's very comfortable (even for a 5'8" skinny short-a**e like me!)

Also, should probably clarify that I wouldn't expect anyone to wear this as a day-to-day, normal watch (the battery wouldn't last long enough anyway) it's only intended for use whilst actively engaged in sports (running, cycling, walking, tri's etc).

Really? The Forerunner 305? It's still listed on Garmin's site, they only do two models that are for multi sports so I would be suprised if they are discontinuining this model but maybe i'm worng. They do cheaper models like the 60 etc which is now old stock but the 305 is listed at £125+ everywhere.
