The iQue 3000 is a newly styled, entry-level Palm Powered personal digital assistant (PDA) that offers fully integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.

The iQue 3000 welcomes users with Garmin's easy-to-use "where to" or "view maps" interface. After entering a destination, the iQue 3000 will choose the fastest or shortest route to navigate the user from door to door. The unit automatically recalculates a route if the driver misses his or her turn and notifies the driver of the estimated time of arrival.

The compact iQue 3000 features Garmin's Que technology that offers complete integration between organization and GPS navigation functions. Que technology connects the Palm Address Book and Date Book to the GPS electronic map so that users can navigate directly to a specific address from the user's contact database or date book.

Users may download detailed street information onto their iQue 3000 from the installation DVD, which is a standard accessory. This industry-leading navigation database allows the user to look up nearly six million points of interest, such as restaurants, hotels, transportation hubs, and banks. Map data is provided by NAVTEQ - a world leader in premium-quality mapping.

GARMIN iQue 3000 * Palm OS 5.2.1 200 MHz * RAM: 32 MB * ROM: 32 MB microSD 256 MB TFT ( 320 x 320 ) * IrDA * GPS

I rang IT247 and they confirmed this comes with UK & Ireland maps.

Price is with free 7 day delivery (Next Day is 11.99). Cheapest prices I could find elsewhere were:- Expansys £106.63 (but with Nordic, not UK, maps) Handtec £95.10

OK it's not the best performing, smallest, or fully featured of devices (e.g. no Bluetooth or WiFi). But if all you're after is a basic Palm OS PDA, with the added bonus of built in GPS, I reckon this is a good deal. After all, you could pay this for GPS software alone!

NOTE: This product does NOT come with UK maps.

Edit: While we wait for someone at IT247 to tell us exactly what maps are supplied instead of just saying it's "not UK", here are links to the operating manuals to peruse:-

GPS

IT247 have modified their web site to say this is the Nordic edition (despite the P/N showing the UK & Ireland Product code), and are now asking an extra £57.90 for UK maps. The iQue price has also gone up to £69.64.

OK...so what's cold about this?
Would it be so difficult for people to post a value statement?

As far as I can tell this is the included software:-

City Navigator NT, UK & Ireland
but there's no info on version or age (you need a serial number to check for updates). The 3000 was released in Feb '06 if that gives any indication.

I'll also add a little heat. it's a cheap price for what seems to be a nice little unit. Of course it's all about the software really, but i guess being a PDA it could run other mapping software if you wanted.
Any suggestion what's the best (like Begdavel i have a medion unit) as I would like to see if there is better software out there now, it must have moved on.

Corking deal I reckon, heat & rep added!

Tempting!!

pda or not, it's still a sat nav for less than £70!
#11
does this take tomtom software if u wanted to change?
#12
have gone and ordered one of those. been looking for ages and i'm not paying £150 for a tom tom one...my parents bought a pda and then managed to get tom tom software on it so who knows - if there is a will there is a way!
#13
Does the SAT NAV work on this if you're just walking instead of driving?

you can definately get tomtom for other palms, so this one should be fine too..

As far as I know Garmin devices use their own protocol to talk to the GPS receiver (details here ) so probably best to assume that 3rd party GPS programs won't work. On the other hand, you do get access to the vast library of Palm PDA software.

Yes, as long as you follow the roads ;)
(AFAIK the maps are road based).

Only problem is it may take you the car route round a one-way system.

You're not looking very hard. It's on the left hand side of the web site rather confusingly labelled "Returns Policy" :whistling: :)

http://www.it247.com/Info/About-IT247-Returns.htm

In summary, fairly standard -
3 days to lodge RMA application unless cancelling the order under DSR in which case it is the standard 7 days.

As is usual practice, don't open any software seals if you think you might be returning it, as software is exempt from the Distance Selling Regs and you won't get a refund.

Make sure you identify yourself as "Consumer" if ordering rather than business or DSR will not apply.

Yikes - that is NOT what I was told by your Sales team when I called this morning. She went off-line to enquire and came back saying it was definately the UK and Ireland version.

OP says 'I rang IT247 and they confirmed this comes with UK & Ireland maps.'

Someone at IT247 is confused...............or doesn't know their a**e from their elbow :whistling:

Yep, that was what I was categorically assured by their Sales representative. I was already aware that eXpansys only had the Nordic version (they cleared out their UK versions a couple of weeks ago), which is why I queried it in view of the absence of this crucial information on their web site.

If PAULW (and the so-called "Product Manager") have seen fit to say that it is not the UK version, why have they not revealed what version it really is? Surely that would be the obvious (and professional) thing to do?
#35
I really want to know as I'm looking for a cheap US only GPS system.

Oh well...
#36
Just rang them this morning (I live about a mile away from them!) to try and get info on the maps supplied.

No one able to discuss with me as they are in the process of moving offices and from Monday will be in Merseyside area! Quite a way to move from Stockport, may be they dont like it here!

Told to ring back Monday for further information.
#37
I've ordered one of these, is it now going to be useless as a Sat Nav in the UK?
#39
good deal wish it was windows pda still good sat nav for 68.47
#40
Absolutely storming deal! This is labelled "Garmin Bluechart" compatible on Garmin's own website. We probably don't all want to run Marine GPS on our PDA - but I do!! For less than 70 quid delivered, this is a complete steal (yes - I know this doesn't include the marine charts - I'll just have to arrange them seperately)
