Great for the money:thumbsup:

It is a bargain for this unit but its a 2007 model which lacks important features that new Sat Navs have like lane assist. Also before anyone asks this unit can not be updated to the V5 firmware that the 205 has or have any other Sat Nav programs running on it.

You really can't expect lane assist for £60 :?

Hot for me tho in that price range I'd spend a little extra on the widescreen 200W

i hate garmins

Note to all stupid people: When using a satnav, if the road turns into a river or you get directed off the edge of a cliff, stop driving - because it probably isn't a road :)

is there any better then tomtom????

I got a Garmin 255W from Amazon for about £170 last year --- I've never used it apart from to test it worked, plus I wasn't too happy because it looked used to me. Should have sent it back, but I didn't get round to it.

Do you want to sell it and if so what price?

Can I get an USA map for this?

What is Lane Assist?

I have a Tom Tom One that is 3 years old and I was going to pay to update the maps.

However this is probably cheaper if it is any good. Can anyone comment?

I've got the Nuvi with European mapping. I love it. It took me to my home town in the Netherlands on an alternative route, using back lanes, in 1 hour less then it usually takes me. I know for the price as per above it does not include european mapping, but this unit with UK mapping is well worth the price mentioned - and you get a NICE LARGE screen with that as well!

I've got the 300 model and I don't know if its the same for other Garmins but mine is very temperamental. Either it works fine or it spends the whole journey "looking for satellites".

It might have been because the one on Amazon states its "NEWLY OVERHAULED", found on website states clearly what that means:

"These are systems that have been returned to Garmin from either an end user or dealer that may or may not have been used. Many of the units Garmin gets back from their larger retailers are actually found to be working fine, but end users have returned them for any number of reasons. Whereas some units do come back with real failures.

Garmin therefore takes all these units that come back, tests them out and, if necessary, does repairs to bring them back to 'like new' status. Garmin also ensures they have the latest software update.

These units are therefore as good as new, but since they have been in the field, cannot be sold as new. Garmin then offers them to their dealers at a discounted price and offers a full one year warranty, just as they do on new systems. These systems are not new, but are as good as new."

Lane assist actually depicts the lanes on the motorways so you know which one you should be in at junctions. Not avaialable on the cheaper sat navs.

The Nuvi 200 a decent budget sat nav tho as I said earlier its worth the extra for the widescreen version

I reviewed it here

TomTom has a nice user interface, but has a relatively poor range of maps (i.e. Europe & N. America and not a lot else). Garmin has coverage for Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, KSA, Kuwait, China, Pakistan, India, Southern Africa, Malaysia, etc, etc - so much better than TomTom!
