Garth Marenghi's Dark Place DVD - £3.93 Delivered!

Seems a bargain to me for such an awesome show!

When the Hellmouth opens beneath Darkplace Hospital in downtown Romford, kiddy doctor, Vietnam veteran and ex-warlock Dr. Rick Dagless M.D. (Garth Marenghi) is the only man who can close it.

Joined by best buddy Dr. Lucien Sanchez (Todd Rivers), fiery hospital boss Thornton Reed (Dean Learner), and woman Liz Asher (Madeleine Wool), Dagless must fight the forces of Darkness while dealing with the burden of day-to-day admin.

From the chilling pen of best-selling horror writer Garth Marenghi comes this lost masterpiece of televisual terror. Dare you enter Garth's Darkplace?

Don't forget QUIDCO!

What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie, sausage roll.

And sit down to watch a bit of Darkplace.

Awesome, hot hot hot!

Yeah,
Some things are so bad they are good but some things are just so bad they can never be good or funny!!!
#17
I don't understand how people can say shows like this are bad...I don't mean to have a go, but what would you consider a funny comedy then???

They probably like two pints of lager and a packet of crisps :whistling:

This show is ACE!

Please note that it purposefully has dire acting, cinematography, fashion, script and effects. This is to enable it to be the ultimate parody of some of the worst in 80's TV. If you remember some of the rubbish from that era then you will find this very funny indeed.

Darkplace - 6 Episodes
2 Pints - 62 Episodes, so far

The people of Britain have spoken, they clearly don't know what is good for them.

Maybe because people have different senses of humour & if they didn't we'd only need one comedy show that we could all watch!!!?!?

This was a fairly amusing show & has been posted at an excellent price which even Mac concedes....it's not that difficult to understand.....

This is an absolute bargain! Worth it for for Todd Rivers rendition of 'One Track Lover'. Boy, can Dean Lerner rap or what?

"Please, accept this shortbread".

Oops sorry getting my supermarkets mixed up,i thought i remembered seeing it on this thread for £3 + other great channel 4 comedies
if you want to checkout a funny review of the show go to amazon page 71-80 lillians review theres an idiot on their who believed it was a real show and complains about the bad acting and cheap special effects, either that or its someone from the show sending in a review?lol.

This series is amazing, as to is the price - great find!

I know people who love it and I know there are those that hate it, but mostly due to the fact they dont get it. Its a perfect send-up of the type of cross genre low budget tv show that was trying to break new ground back in the 80's, but invariably they turned out to be naff, cheesey and rubbish.

For those who havent watched it, give it a go and in the end you'll only be wasting £4, but I guarantee anyone with a funny bone will laugh out loud a handful of times in each episode.

And you get the full version of 'One Track Lover' the greatest tv song EVER!

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is just terrible. The show wasn't cutting-edge or too scary to be broadcast as Garth Marenghi would have you believe - the show was probably axed because it was very very bad. I can't believe I wasted my precious time watching this hogwash. Thank God I wasn't living in Peru when the show was broadcast there. The series did not depict day-to-day hospital life accurately and the horror was undoubtedly poorly conceived. The costumes - the Gorilla costumes for example - were laughable. I actually did laugh when I saw the Gorillas riding bikes - pushbikes which made motorbike noises. How childish!

Let me say a couple of things about the acting. Dean Learner should stick to publishing books (by the way I've looked for Garth Marenghi's books and I am repeatedly laughed at by bookstore owners - what does that tell you about the author/actor?). Dean Learner acted appallingly and couldn't seem to stop looking at the camera man throughout the first season. There were scenes when he completely got out of character and looked at the camera with a smile on his face. Yes, he smiled in scenes that were supposed to be serious horror. I can't believe that this rubbish even got a first season back in the bad old 1980s. If you want a real hospital show, watch ER. If you want real horror, watch 666 - the movie.

The show might be OK, never watched it, but what I do remember was Matthew Holness appearing in character on several chat shows prior to the series and they were some of the most excruiciatingly awful tv I have ever seen. Not even in a so bad they're funny way.
I seriously think such promo stunts killed any chance the series had from day one.

The really funny thing is you think the guy/gal was serious just like the show this review is a mickey take, and all of a sudden all the bigheads who thought the guy/gal was "stupid" find they've been even more "stoopid"

I'm not giving the game away which is why the guy/gal bit, as I said earlier the whole reason for the windup was to make people such as your good self feel superior to the reviewer but in fact it was taking the **** out of you, which it did brilliantly, as I said it's well known in the IT/media company I work for.
#38
yeah because obviously if you said if it was a guy or a girl it would of completely given the game away to this mystery person who you claim to know for some reason. bizzare

Obviously not a very busy IT/media company then. But wise move, faking an Amazon review is a capital offence. If you look out of your window now and see a large blacked out SUV, then you are truly living in your own delusion.

I was merely pointing out that the review that certain people were wetting themselves over was in fact itself a **** take, believe what you will I do not have to justify myself here I have just pointed out the facts as I know them, and as you know we in It/media dont work that hard :giggle:
