Absolute corker for a gas bbq, saw this today and yesterday at Asda Walsgrave, told by assistant it isn't on offer and will be nationwide!
Il try and get a pic uploaded tomorrow, comes in a very large box!
Wilksons have a 3 gas burner BBQ for sale at £59. B&Q has a 2 burner gas barbecue in for £44.98, which is very similar to this one, and finally Argos have a 2 burner gas barbecue in for £48.89 again very similar to this one. So this is a bargain, it also has a 1year guarantee!

Just found it online.... great reviews too :)

BBQ & Gas Canisters for £30 .... ?!

the canisters thing has me confused so I reserve my vote until I know what it is we are voting for.

"canisters" are for portable camping style stuff are they not? cant seriously be a large bottle they are offering can it?

sounds like a good find katie but will wait til tomorrow to cast my vote-never heard of a large garden barbecue running on "canisters" before.

it would be FAR more than that-its about 50 quid to buy the first bottle-then you can swap the empty for a full one at about 26 quid a time so this would be 50 quids worth of gas plus a barbecue for 30 pounds.

but-doesnt the law require that gas canisters for barbeques be stored outside?? in secure cages? how many asdas have that facility? none in my area anyways.

Love it lol

Not arguing its just i saw this deal and got excited and was just a bit dissapointed when it turned out not to to include the canisters, and that post i made for the BBQ is the type of thing im looking for not this one.

Not being unreasonable just think people should get their facts right before they post a deal and get peoples hopes up, i was 5mins away from taking a trip to asda and at the time of me posting my comments it still said - includes canisters. Fair enough you've changed it now so good for you. Good deal for those that like the look of this BBQ.

Can I ask a silly question....................these gas barbeques wont give u that charcoal taste will they?

Yip silly question!! But what is the point of these gas bbq's - is it just more convenient to turn on etc?

Btw Katie, have voted hot as this is a great price!
#24
I bought this bbq a while back, I think it's brilliant so voting HOT!!!

Nice question, apparently tastes less BBQey.. Which spoils the BBQ point really? But also heats up quicker and cooks food more evenly! I shall stick to charcoal though, thanks for heat hun :) xx

£30 for a gas BBQ is a bargain with or without the cannisters. I'm voting HOT!
#29
you lose some BBQness but still get something to the effect of as the gas heats the lava rock and the lava rock cooks your food. plus you can always throw some wet hickory chips on the rock to get a nice smoked flavour.. personally I prefer a charcol but there is no denying that £30 for a 2 burner gas BBQ is an ace price, especially at this time of year.

Generally accepted that you have to buy the gas seperate from the bbq, even if it is in the same store,as they need to have outside secure storage.
#31
£30 for a gas bbq?
Bet thats top quality :)

Cracking price for those who like that sort of thing though!
#32
It's been this price for months.

I got one a few months ago (I thought I'd try gas and see what it's like) and I think it's crap. It's slow and food cooked on it is tasteless. Gone back to my Asda £8 charcoal BBQ which is tons better.
Not dissing gas BTW. I'm sure with gas it's a case of you get what you pay for.

a bad workman......

surely tasteless food is down to the ingredients and the cook, not the heating method :-D
#34
Voted Hot but I'm with the muchus on this one.

Food cooked on a gas barbeque just don't taste right. A charcoal one tastes much better.

Lol, same cook, same ingredients, different BBQ. World of difference.

But I'm not wanting to stoke the Gas vs Charcoal debate. Just that this one isn't really a Gas BBQ, more of a gas grill. Sure better ones eg Weber, or ones with lava rocks are much better.

I was referring to the adjective 'tasteless'.

then again, I thought all gas bbqs had lava rocks. If this one just has two gas burners then it really is pointless as you might as well use the cooker as the gas will be a tenth of the cost of calor gas

Exactly. Well it's actually only one burner (controls operate left half and right half), with a stainless strip covering the burner to stop fat dripping onto it.
I'm no expert, but not sure you can even use lava rocks with this. The burner wouldn't even heat them up.

I might convert it, so that it can heat my greenhouse in winter, lol.
#39
Bought this a few weeks ago and took it straight back.It does not come with lava rocks. Its basically a rectangular burner with 2 controls in a rectangular bucket. In other words a portable gas oven.If you want BBQ taste, get one with lava rocks.

They're both 2 burners, just one of them looks slightly fancier but it's wood which will need a lot more care... either way surely they still do the same thing, cook food. I'd rather save myself £44 and get this one, use that saving to buy a gas cannister maybe?!:whistling:
