Just had a flyer from GB Airways (British Airways) stating that their January sale is now on with up to 25% off. They are not the cheapest carrier, although service is usually pretty good and the discount makes them a bit more competitive for some destinations.

Prices appear to be quoted inclusive of taxes - so hopefully no hidden extras like baggage costs - and they provide food and drinks (unlike some of the cheap carriers). Reasonable prices for European & long Haul on the website (e.g Edinburgh - Paphos £90/ow incl. all taxes).

Hope this may be of interest.

MAN - JFK return for £259..... That's a really good price for a regional long-haul :)

Voted hot & repped, Thanks Rock!! :)

If you travel after 1 May, you will be on Easyjet flight, they have taken over the routes from BA, so service may not be what you would expect

I dont expect much service when on BA they are dire to fly with, seems right that they would team up with Easyjet.

Easyjet Never again !!!

Not easyjet yet. I think this deal (and fly-by) expires before EJ get the routes.

BA are still awful. Ive spent the last 10 years flying the Australia and Asia routes and can honestly say BA are a carrier i choose to refuse after terrible service on them.

Its just my opinion but it would have to be a very good sale to make me fly them.

I don't get what sort of "service" you need on a plane... The whole point is to get from A to B... who cares about the food, politeness etc. onboard a flight for a few hours... Stop exaggerating people.

BA aren't so bad. It's a very competitive industry, and they are light years ahead of the budget airlines. I trust them.

GB Airways are being taken over by easyJet and as such the BA franchise will cease. All flights after March 30th 2008 will be easyJet flights.

However, that is irrelevant as no GB Airways flights after March 30th can be booked on BA.com,. they have all been removed because of the takeover.

I have my opinion, you have yours.
To clarify how i came to mine.
If i am going to spend in excess of 14 hours on a flight and possibly upto 24 then the service matters alot. The seat pitch makes a difference, the quality of food, the check in process and the attitude of the staff. Oh and the price, and its not usually hard to beat BA on price with much better airlines on the routes i fly.

If i was flying on them for a few hours granted it would likely be alright, i prefer jet2 for those trips, given that they fly from our local airport and are cheaper than BA.

I dont mean to bash them, just they are not very good for long haul. In my honest tried and tested opinion.
