the Internet has ruined your mind. ......
Make it three - definitely looked like a butt plug!
Super low res by the look of it. You'd get the equivalent making a mesh from photographs. Hows the Kinect 3d scanning coming along these days?

from the small icon on the HUKD menu I thought that scanner was working with a very different kind of ornament than the one pictured.
Looks like a cool piece of equipment though I doubt I would ever have a use for it

I am not alone! I didn't want to say in case it had people up in arms over a hamfisted comment

I've still no idea what the real cost of this thing is! Perhaps some passing mod would care to investigate and publish the correct price including the import VAT levy and the Fedex (or whoever) admin charge for settling the import bill.

Or, does the £50 difference between the 'EU plug' and 'UK plug' include the vat?

Until then, it's not likely that many will be inclined to vote this 'deal' up.

it's free postage
It is now - and price is £152 - before it was £209 including postage - may find this difficult to resist!

Why so cold?
Possible because 3D printers are like woks. You think it seems like a good idea, but once you've tried it a couple of times it turns out to be no use for anything practical and gets put in a cupboard until it is eventually thrown out.
Or it could be because this is only a kit, so the chances of successfully building it, aligning it or even receiving all the correct parts, are very, very, low.

If you want something that you can plug and play then go spend 2000, this is a good printer if you can follow instructions. And all you need is imagination and a bit of will power and you can print anything. All i got mine for was quad parts but now i've seem to be printing useful things everyday. If you're not good a designing or don't have a "tinkering" brain then i would say no don't get one. But they are a lot of fun.

It's the postage which is always the killer on these - the price is heading in the right direction, but I'm still holding off - not voted either way, but the current -79 is a bit harsh, I'd like someone to show me one cheaper

Took 8 days from Aliexpress to get my 4 global no customers all LTE bands included £149 less £10.85 TCB . Combined with the EE deal in here over a year averages at £16pm. Bargain . Had wanted a 10 Plus but cheapest i can see is £45 pm , I know the latter is significantly better but for 30pm saving it'll do nicely.

But 3g phones don't cost, £141.09 or the hassle to get it from China and pay customs.
What are you on about? It's not exactly hassle to wait an extra week or two, and there are no customs charges as they ship to avoid them. Band 20 is only an issue on one UK network and even then you can still get 3G, you can even get 12 months warranty when buying from the right place. You ain't half talking some fluff in this thread.

Negative. No B20 in this one. Not cheap either to buy directly from China.
Don't think I've even seen a Chinese phone with B20 - only matters if you're on O2 I think?
Don't tell porkies. All UK 4G phones have B20 and are made in China, like most other things are made in China these days . It matters a lot as all networks in UK use B20. Trying to sell grey import phones made for use in China or India, with missing bands in UK where the manufacturer never intended it to be sold here and no warranty or support is why it is stupid to buy these phones. There are some sellers like Oneplus who ship from China but provide warranty and pay customs. Even Gearbest has EU warehouse. Anyone buying this is taking a gamble with a lemon. Hope you are not stupid to waste £141. 09 of your good money for something which may only work as a tablet in UK.
Even if your network uses b20 for 4G Internet, you would still be able to use 3G internet, and make phone calls, wouldn't you? That's more than your average tablet does.

this isn't a good price for such a low resolution projector. you can get much better on ebay. i got a 480p one for under £15 about 3 months ago but the last i looked the same one was about £25, still cheaper than this
320 x 180 , shurely shome mishtake?!?!? my god that would make everything look like a Lego movie or actually a duplo movie.
300inches diagonally across at 320x180 = 261inches x 148.5inches

The pixels would be practically 1 inch square!

I wish I was making it up but the specs actually suggest that as an 'option'.

My mistake. Meant to say OnShape. Always getting those 2 confused.

Simplify3D has some neat features like the excellent support control but i personally don't think it's worth the very high price. Not sure paying almost as much for a slicer as my printer makes a whole lot of sense. The free slicers are just fine and in some ways even better. Slic3r just introduced variable layer height which for me is all sorts of amazing.
zzleezz

Tinkercad is really easy for a beginner. Solidworks would be the next step up from that. Either of those will be good places to start for creating models.
I use Slic3r Prusa Edition to slice but Cura is also very good.
Highly recommend seeking out the official anet a8 Facebook support page. There's a wealth of info there.
Solidworks is not something for beginners, nor is it cheap. Fusion 360 is similar but free from Autodesk.

I've also used Cura and its support-strut featuresare sub-par compared to something like Simplify3D. But Cura would be a good place to start until you get frustrated with the lack of control.

I bought one, arrived two weeks ago with no customs charge. In fact I have never paid any customs charge for purchases from Gearbest. I don't know if it's because I've been lucky, or whether they use some method to avoid this, such as artificially lowering the value on the shipping slip.
if you dont mind me asking, did you go with the free shipping or opt for paid? ive seen many decent deals from Gearbest but dont want to get hit by customs charges :/

I paid a little extra for insurance, just a couple of quid. But yes the shipping was free. Arrived by Yodel.
I've also bought 4 CCTV cameras from Gearbest, but I ordered each one separately, just in case there was a customs charge. I know there is a £ limit under which there is no charge, and as Gearbest ship free, there was no disadvantage to ordering separately.

If you go for the rx2/3 in either black or black and red it is actually only £32.86
Coming up £28 for me. Great that you have the option of 2 or 3 batteries installed. (I have one)
and the rx200 cheaper than gearbest at £26
I've had the rx 200 and currently use the rx2/3. though there aren't much between them I do prefer the 2/3 mainly because of the larger screen and better finish. you can tell they've put thought into making a better product and the 2/3 is well worth the extra few £££ over the rx 200 for this

actually the flat black is the same price as the white grey one I linked, so in essence you can have the newer version in the same colour or a choice of 3 other colours cheaper.

I feel they fit much better in the hand compared to boxes, but I guess that is more an opinion based thing really.

lol, yes but you'd have to get the other hardware (electronics, thread rod, acrylic/metal/printed frame) but apart from that yes you can print a 3d printer.
I've ordered loads from Gearbest and never had any Customs charge. Plus it's free postage to the UK

Here's the page to check for yourselves:https://www.gov.uk/goods-sent-from-abroad/tax-and-duty
20% tax
arguable 2.5% on duty (for items inconveniently over £135 - but I'm sure GB mark is cheaper than £140)
Carrier fees (around £8 for Royal Fee, possibly more for other carriers).
Many will slip through the net, of course as GB often mark items at stupidly low prices.
For about the same price (actually £15 cheaper due to a flash sale), this printer tends to get very good reviews and much larger print volume 22x22x24cm^3 vs 15x15x15.
If you're looking to get into 3D printing for something around this price, but are scared of the possible extra costs and lack of UK support then you might want to consider this.
It has similar spec, with the addition of having to buy proprietary filament spools, which I believe, can be circumvented with some effort.
not if you select the UK plug it's 140 if you select that

U don't know about you. But I have more UK power cables than I can possibly ever use. I'd prefer I'd they supplied none and took a quid off it.

I bought a ulefone phone back in Feb 2014. Best phone ever, still working perfectly today and still takes better pictures than most phones around today.
Sadly I have to retire it because it was not fast enough for some of today’s apps.
Last year, I bought the Ulefone Power 1. After 6 months it developed a problem where the back camera pics were blurry.
Banggood refunded me the full price plus the return postage. It did take awhile though.
But that was the first Chinese phone I had (I have so far ordered 9 phones/tablets) from China with problems.
Hence, I have no issues ordering again. The savings are worth the minimal risks.
It is a shame when phone deals get posted here , if people run down gearbest or the phone based on Auntie Aida stories.

I have a ulephone power for over a year,it is one of the best phones I have come across.. I would thoroughly recommend them. I prefer to buy phones via Aliexpress and pay the insurance, so if there was an issue they have a uk repair/replacement service.
I cannot fault the ulephone power, it is only if you want a bigger screen go with something else.
philjstephenson
No matter where you get this from, check out the reviews of Ulefone screen issues within the 12 month warranty period, software issues bricking phones after OTA updates and generally poor performance followed by phones failing just around the 12 month warranty end period are common... if you just want a 12 month phone then go for it

That's a shame - it's a hell of a lot of phone otherwise.

seen one of these in action whilst trading in a game to Cex a few months back, employee powered it behind counter and proceeded to **** herself after it took out a stack of PS4 consoles and snapped one of the blades off...oh how we all laughed at her stupidity.
powerful little beasts these
She was unlucky as you need to arm motors after powering it up for it to do anything
Even more lucky that she didnt injure anyone there. She was stupid to even try it indoors

Its both sticks down then together to arm motors maybe could do that accidentally if messing with controller
Dont think return to home would work no gps lock + gyros and compass would not be calibrated
i'm not sure how she operated it she pressed something on the controller its blades started powering up then shot up in the air left into the shelves, the employee dealing with my trade in ran over to her after she dropped the controller screaming turn it off turn it off in a blind panic he pressed a button (return to home?) and it came back to earth quite gracefully if truth be told.

Me and her colleague looked at each other looked at her and laughed loudly. weren't many people in the store so i'm presuming it was already bought in or being tested for the seller to return later.

was deffo this model though looked a canny piece of kit in the flesh
Definitely not the best idea to start it up indoors with blades on, I have this same quad and it's an amazing bit of kit

For those wanting to view this cam on Windows, couldn't they use Amiduos, apparently it's a really simple way to run Android apps within Windows.
It looks that in few days these could be had for £17.65
I've just received mine from one of the older posts here and so far very pleased with it.
Going to buy couple more. LINK

I only got mine last night (from an earlier HUKD) and have a few other observations to add to mk-donald's useful list above).

It only works with the app (unless hacked) so you will need a smartphone or tablet to view the feed. It is not viewable from a web-browser.
It has no web interface (by browsing to its IP address) so you cant set up a static IP address or configure it to email motion alert photos (which I was hoping for).
Motion captures seem to be stored in the cloud. Any that you watch are downloaded locally to the phone memory. Any motion clips deleted through the app, deletes them from the cloud but not from the phone so they may accumulate on the phone and need maintenance once in a while.

The "Continuous record" option in the app requires the MicroSD but from looking at the SD card contents, the only time it has ever written to the internal MicroSD is before it was set-up and connected to the WiFi

I have not managed to get it to continually record to the SD card or put motion recordings on the SD card.

I have no clue as to what the USB port is on the back!

It will not work with Tinycam as far as I can see.

My feeling is that the feed, motion detection etc all go directly to Xiaomi's servers in China or wherever and you view them from there as there is no need for anything technical like port forwarding on your router. Although it is a bit of a concern that my video is going to a third party, this is also pretty cool as you normally have to pay a subscription for this kind of functionality and for them to host your content and in this case it is free and gets your content off-site in case a thief then spots and takes your camera with them.

As such I would conclude, this is a simple camera for those who want a camera to work out of the box without having to mess with router settings but a bit restrictive for tinkerers that are used to being able to delve into settings and configure cameras in other ways.

Just some random observations as had one of these for a couple of months, and I stand to be corrected on them:

Mi Home is the Android app that integrates it with other Mi Smart Gateway/Yeelights etc.
Camera works on regular g WiFi 2.4
Needs an external power supply fed to it thru its microUSB port ie 5V allegedly 1A from memory but I use an old mains rated 0.5A one.
As has been mentioned the app's controls/menus are only partially and poorly translated so haven't deduced yet fully how to exploit/understand it fully.
The Motion alarm with auto video recording only records for 15 seconds to local SD
The motion detection is unsophisticated and eg picks up passing headlights here so not usable for alerts.
Time Lapse works to local SD card
Low light viewing (no light!) via built in InfraRed good
The Mi Home app works locally and remotely to look at live over WiFi and over eg Vodafone 3G/4G but isn't always 100% reliable, especially if I've used the 'off' button to turn the camera off between remote monitoring.
The app can also "pull" ie download a snap/video file from the camera SD to the app for viewing, but playback control is pretty limited - and it's SLOW at that from the limited trials I've done
The Mi Home app itself keeps getting updated - and will update the camera firmware too - and keeps getting better & "more english" but it isn't flawless - eg has a bug that keeps randomly requiring a re-log-in and sometimes won't move from id to password field on first update (and briefly had a crash bug that wouldn't allow the Mi Smart Gateway to add devices through the software - you had to do it manually using the button on top of the Gateway)

It looks as if there is a HACK site where (trustable?) people have updated the firmware to make it far more capable, and that's a topic I intend to look into.

Conclusion : to get into the WiFi camera with remote viewing capabilities it's a cheap entry-level that will help you find out what features you want/need/value.

Very informative post with a lot of my questions answered. Thanks for that.

Will this add to existing hue bridge , or separate via app
Now that i know these work with the echodot I've ordered 2...thanks
I've got one of these in the garage (which isn't joined to the house).

It works great. I've got it to come on when my phone connects to the garage's WiFi network via IFTTT.

I'm also using a screw to bayonet adapter.
How come it's so hard to get these in Bayonet fitting?
Will these bulbs start launching cyber attacks against foreign powers and get me into trouble with MI5?

@Gearbest1 . I purchased a phone that literally went up in smoke...I provided video evidence and pictures to which you offered 30$ store credit..no where near the price of the phone. Totally unfair responses from gearbest .

Always buy through paypal and use the paypal protection to your advantage.
Gearbest support is dire

Got one of these last time, battery life is not great about three hours.
Yeah, i ordered a remote helicopter and the camera on it was faulty. They offered me a couple of dollars credit or a discount to buy a replacement camera for it. They wouldn't just send the replacement camera part which cost less than $10. I had no choice but to pay $8 for the part, unless i was prepared to pay £'s to send back to China. Not worth the risk

That's the older processor. The one i posted is the newer Z8350, not a big difference, but newer.
Does this have the screen issues other models have?
Does anyone know if there is import duty if ordering from gearbest? Thanks.

Really nice phone. Not an amazing deal really from China though. Paid about £155 from EU warehouse for one. TomTop have had it in UK warehouse for I think as low as £140.
Nice spec but it's like all Chinese phones, you're trading the potential warranty for a discount.

I bought a Leagoo Lead 5 about 18 months ago and its still going strong. Absolutely solid build. Took a chance but it worked out ok.
As for this one most of the complaints are about very poor build quality and poor connectivity. Comment from Amazon reviewer "It's useless! Don't believe the hype or reviews". I think Vernee need to improve before people start to splash the cash on their products.
Why is this cold? Because it's an unknown brand? Heat from me! This is a great price for a phone of this spec!
Lenovo ZUK 2
I quite like the Huawei 6x
The Moto X is only about £10 more:

Personally I couldn't own a phone with a name that looks like what happens when a cat walks over your keyboard. (_;)

Your in the wrong room mate.

Apple is down the corridor last room on the left....... Samsung is facing it on the right.

Close the door please after you leave. Thanks.
On the phone in question,no band 20 - will perform less well than one with it on 4G on all UK networks (this is a fact as all of them have band 20 bandwidth - as for how many places on each network, unfortunately I think that is down to trial & error as they don't seem to publish info & more so could change over time - the masts can be re-designated between different bands or even 2G/3G/4G).

These global/international versions catch me out when I assume that it means band 20 (as the first few I saw did).

I couldn't care less (I mean about the name on my phone, not your hang ups about the name on yours). I couldn't live with a name on mine that cost 1p more than any other for the same/better quality & spec. (Unless it was in some way offensive, rather than silly.)

Am I the only one who realised one day, "hang on £500+ for a phone - I wouldn't spend that on a laptop"?

I am in shock that brand X Chinese phones are posted on here at those (£500+) figures.

Nice specs. I would be concerned about the stipulation that any sort of Android or Windows upgrades messing with the tablet and voiding the warranty. Presumably this doesn't mean that Windows couldn't be updated, new version of Android installed, etc?

That's the standard warning they put on ALL their tablet, phone and PC offerings. Nothing to worry about
cheaper to get from China warehouse than EU warehouse...weird

Either way would you send this back to China to fix if the update went awry or would you try to fix it yourself? Backups...
