I preordered at £49.99 at game.co.uk without a voucher, but as mine was posted yesterday I just lost a tenner for no reason

They should've pulled the price back ages ago

Anyways, with 9% quidco and 5% loyalty this is like £36 after these discounts

And game are good at dispatch and delivery

Man i am miffed, i cancelled my from Zavvi (special edition) as it still said back order (this was today). The other standard edition from game got sent out already (£35) now they drop the price of the colelctors just after my standard has been dispatched...

Cheers for the bad news, I got my despatch email from zavvi today - oh well only a couple of quid.

Good price after discounts and rewards :)

Here you go this is stated when u pre-order

Note: The price quoted for a preorder title is the anticipated retail selling price at the time of release. Should the price be reduced you will be charged the lower price at the time of your order being dispatched. Should the price increase - you will not pay any more! Money is taken just prior to release.

Why pay a tenner more for a snazzie case and maybe a toy ?

I would because I want to keep the game in my collection forever, just as I have kept GOW 1.

Take advantage of their 28 return policy, just don't open the packaging around the dvd case. Either return in-store or use their freepost address and then re-order with the voucher and quidco Even if you order another one right now I'm sure you'll get it by Friday. Ok it's a day later than you wanted but you would save that £10.

I'm outraged at game for reducing the cost of this the day after sending out preorders and have sent an email requesting a refund of the £7, otherwise i'll have to take it instore and get the standard edition on friday.
#15
Just put my order in.
Cancelled with Woolworths as the reward points is better and game guarantee delivery for release day. :)

Couldn't you order the game at the new price, open the preordered game, but return the cheaper game when it arrives with the preordered games receipt?- if you follow my drift!!
#18
ive not even preordered it anywhere
tesco have the special edition for £41.97 and it says it will be delivered on release day
#19

Good idea, but hopefully GAME will do the right thing and refund the difference, if not i'm just going to take it back for a refund and get the £29 sainsburys price on friday - i don't need the special edition.

£21 is worth waiting a day!

The edition will feature alternate cover art, a SteelBook case with a bonus content DVD, a book entitled "Beneath the Surface: An Inside Look at Gears of War 2" which includes concept art and story-related information, a keepsake photo of Dom and Maria, and an exclusive Xbox Live code to unlock a gold-plated Lancer rifle for online play.

Haha, if it was any other time of year, i wouldn't.

But i've got Fallout 3 and Fable 2 to complete, so i don't mind the few extra hours!

Also, you could just use the 'Its an 18 game, you should be happy you're even getting it' excuse! ;)
#25
But you get a GOLDEN LANCER! When you get the special edition, I'm just going to wait it out if I can get it for 35 quid [not including quidco cause might not get it] then I might buy the special edition. Otherwise it's just normal edition for me too!

Shame GAME's checkout wasn't working for me this morning, had to end up going with Tesco =S

Game prob made £7 times what 50,000 orders extra by putting the price down after posting the preorders

And they done the same with the standard edition
#31
Has anyone checked their bank account to see if they have been charged the full amount? As if they have been this is well out of order!! I have checked mine and it hasn't shown up on my statement yet..

Thanks to saynoto0870.com

If you want to ring them in the morning, don't ring them on their 0871 2001221 number and give them more money

There real number is 01256 784024

Hope this helps

This is why they make £35 million every 3 months

look, you all know that games drop in price - thats the way things are. now anyone ordering the limited one for £49.99 must have known it would end up cheaper - many other places were selling it for £10 less.

and yeah, so you might not get it on day of release, but are people so sad to need a game for release day? i mean havent people got enough games to not bother with it?

i have to admit i have ordered from whsmith, but thats only because it was so cheap, and i like steelbooks. but this is the only game this year i have preordered. i never bother because games get so cheap so quickly these days. i never usually pay more than £15 for a game these days, and you only need to wait a few months.

but maybe thats because im not as hardcore as others. plus having a ps3, wii, 360, ds and psp - i just dont have time to play every new game.
#34
Its not the fact it dropped in price, its the fact that game avoided its price promise on pre-orders by sending all of them out and then instantly dropping the price! Money grabbing geeeeeeits! :viking:

So, you want to keep it forever - does the standard edition self destruct after you finish playing it or something? :w00t:

Surely he's got 4 years to wait. It's a cert 18.

Not that the certificates make much sense when you can die for your country while seeing much worse while being younger.

That is what i am thinking. I am fuming after going to my post office this morning to collect my post (as I have done in the past) and they say they now cant give post over the counter :x My post will turn up while I am at work and if its to be signed for it will have to be collected tomorrow after 7am.

So while every other ****er is playing it tonight at midnight I have to wait. AND i ordered it on 17th April 2008. My local Asda will have it in stock at midnight tonight for £29.99 as well so will just stroll over there and get it then take back my pre order from game to get my £29.99 back

On the plus side if Supermarkets are going to start doing this with games then maybe the price of games will start to drop.
