soared right to the top of my games pile after a hiatus, now the new DLC is out you can get every map and extra campaign for another £13 or so = £23 for the complete gears 2 experience online & offline. utter win for what i'd consider the best xbox exclusive available... ;)

When I bought my GOW2 on sunday, I was told by the Blockbuster Staff that they were informed to open new packaged games on the 'deal of the week' games to get the quanities up instore.
My GOW 2 had the Flashback card code in it too and even had the 'new game smell'
I love the scent of a new purchased game. lol

Seems that Blockbusters just want shot of the older games to make way for the autumn line up.
And yes GOW 2 for under a tenner is a HOT deal as its a great game.

we do, but normally only when we get stock in that is specifically to be sold as pre-owned, like command and conquer and mercenaries 2 the other week :)

I think you will find Nintendo have that accolade.

Someone said something about an extra campaign you can download. Is this like a full campaign (equivalent size to the campaign that comes with the game) and can you play it split-screen?

Great deal for a great game - You might also want to invest in http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/439708/xbox-360-live-2100-points-card-14-8/ so you can get the extra campaign chapter and multiplayer maps.

I would go as far to say the Wii console itself is far inferiour to the PS3 and 360, there unique appeal comes in the form of the game developers.

Nintendo have won the outskirts of true gamers, the games are very childish / faddish and few and far between the epic titles like Zelda and Mario. If you look at the cash forecasts for money in game development the Wii is far far behind that of true next gen consoles.

Furthermore the online play on the Wii is abizmal and seing as how that is the future of gaming and entertainment, another nail in the coffin.

it's an extra campaign chapter, i've completed it - it's a deleted scene from the original gears 2 campaign and well worth playing. you know the bit where marcus says 'ive found a way to sneak into nexus, but if you want to go in all guns blazing i understand' to dom? it's the bit immediately after that which was deleted, and this is it. i don't really want to spoil anything else but it can be completed in 'guns blazing' mode, or 'stealth' mode a la metal gear...

also it can be done in co-op split screen or over xbox live :)

doesn't matter at all, in terms of sales and revenue the wii has wiped the floor with the xbox and ps3 this generation, therefore it's won the 'console war' and with ease.

however

i also agree with the notion that the wii is essentially a market of it's own now with (imo) inferior games and far less appeal for genuine gamers and as such i don't really class it the same way as xbox or ps3. taking this into account, the 360 is the current leader between those two but i wouldn't rule out a surge from the ps3 in the future.

personally i have both xbox and ps3 so i win either way :-D

Is the DLC free then if it's a deleted scene and should have been in game . I highly doubt it. Can you prove it was meant to be in game > ? Source or rumour ?

no, the DLC is either 'Dark Corners' for 1200 MS points with the new Dark Corners maps (7 in total) or 'All Fronts' for 1600 points with the Dark Corners maps and all previously available map packs as a whole package (19 maps in total).

as i said it's cut from the game which you will know as soon as you load it up as the cut scene it starts with is actually in the main game.

the chapter is actually called 'deleted scene' and when you open it from the menu after downloading, cliffy b from epic introduces it, and explains that it was cut from the original game. he doesn't say the precise reason exactly, but i think it's because there was a lot of indoor action around the deleted scene and they didn't want to have gears being one of those games that feels unnecessarily padded out. the story mode in gears 2 is perfect in terms of length imo, and when you play this, it certainly is 'more of the same' so don't be expecting anything amazing.

i would recommend it mainly for multiplayer gamers as if you're into that you will get the most value - the deleted scene is more of an additional bonus to a generous collection of maps (in comparision to the usual 800 points for 4 maps as seen on most games)
#24
I had a look at the map pack on MP it mentions deleted scene. I think really they should have a third option to give deleted scene back for free if they pulled it from the game.

Thanks

well it's like a film releasing a directors cut or something later, they don't give it to you for free, i don't see how this is any different really. the gears 2 campaign is a tightly scripted journey not dissimilar to a film when you think about it.

sections are cut from games all the time to meet deadlines, fit a single dvd disc etc, you just don't find that out or get the chance to play it later (or in other cases it is repackaged). also it might well have been cut long before it was 'finalised' and it has certainly had money spent on it being tweaked and perfected to match the sheen of the rest of the game, much like you see deleted scenes looking ropey and without soundtrack etc in regular dvd extras, in comparison to the polished finished and edited product you get in the main feature.

Yeah. If you mean not gullible or of the belief I have paid enough £38-£40 x 2 for GOW 1 paid for all DLC x 2 and £38-40 x 2 for GOW and some of the DLC x2 then yeah expecting to get something that was in the game but then they deleted it for whatever reason then it comes back as DLC then it should be bldy free (not the maps jsut the deleted scene). :LOL yeah I'm so tight.
