Gears of War Xbox 360 £33.99 delivered

This takes advantage of previously posted information but given that the price changed overnight I thought it was worth posting.

The highly anticipated Gears of War for Xbox 360 (to be released 17th November) has just been dropped to the more reasonable price of £39.99 on HMV's website (from £49.99). Apply the 15% code posted elsewhere on this site and that brings the price down to £33.99, cheaper than Play, Amazon etc.

PLUS with 11% quidco now available for HMV, that's seems a pretty good deal to me

wot is quidco, i am havin doubts about joining it, i dont want them taken loads of my money out of my account
#5
Hi all, I thought the 15% voucher wouldn't work on pre-order titles, I tried to pre-order Call of Duty the other day and it wouldn't take any money off?
#6
I think it read pre order hardware sales....Although I did have to sign into my account twice and had a bit of trouble getting it to work at first, well it was 7 am!
#7
I ordered GoW and the 15% voucher worked fine for me. Thought I was only getting 9% quidco but it looks like it's given me 11% - woohoo!:)

@killabyte - take a look at the quidco website and all will be explained. Basically the annual admin fee is £5, but if you don't build up £5 in your account over the year then they won't charge you.
#8
Just pre-ordered Call of Duty 3 for £33.99 plus 11% quidco brought it down to £30.25ish. Great deal many thanks! :)
#9
Beware of their slow delivery. If you want the game on day of release or soon HMV is a no no.

Quidco does not alter the price of the goods in your basket, you get cashback from them, which will show up in you earnings on quidco.

Goto Quidco

Follow link to HMV

Buy stuff

After a few days, the 11% of your purchase will shop up in your quidco account.

Few months later, Quidco will pay this into your Paypal account

Quidco is automatic - it knows how much you spend !!!!

PS - I can't get the 15% off code working now - has it expired ??

how is everyone working out the total price of the game???

is it 26% (11% quidco, 15% voucher) minus the total price of the game
#16
Looks like you can only use the 15% off code once.

I ordered a load of stuff yesterday & I cant use the code again today :(
#17
i used 11% quidico and the 15% working out just under £30 a game a steel :)

Is HMV always slow with pre releases then?

I have problems with cdwow taking an age to deliver pre releases so looking for someone reasonably quick - ie a 2-3 days......

Great post btw

You get quidco on the price after the discount, so take 15% off the price and you get 11% of what is left from quidco

so lets say i want the gears of war limited edition priced at £44.99, the way am working it out is taking 15% from £44.99 which gives - £38.24

then i am taking away 11% for quidco, so that is 11% from £38.24 which gives - £34.04

am i working it out right or wrong???????
#22
i think HMV is slow in general with delivery, unless you pay extra for better delivery, i ordered a game that was instock and not a pre-release on friday 27th Oct and it only just arrived this morning (1st Nov).
#23
Last time I ordered from HMV, about a month ago, the CD's that were in stock arrived with me about 3 days after I ordered from them. I had to wait for another cd which they didn't have in stock. In fact, I got an email confirming despatch yesterday, so with any luck it will be at home today, but bearing in mind it comes via Guernsey we'll see.

Basically, what I'm saying is that in the past I've found them to be fine - about the same sort of wait as you get with Play or Amazon. Never bought a pre-order before, but like all things I suspect when I get it will be a question of when HMV receives stock. I figure I can wait a few days in view of the price.

Sounds about right

But you would pay the £38.24 price and then several days after the transaction has been processed your earnings in Quidco will show the difference £3.52 as available credit

Are we going to post everything HMV sells using the 15% off code or something. I think if people are aware of the code (if they're not then that's they're bad luck, hence the search function) then the need to post loads of HMV stuff is a bit pointless seeing as they aren't on offer on anything, if something is on offer then that's fair enough.
It's a bit like posting everything Argos has when they have a sale.
#27
[QUOTE=jase.2]Is HMV always slow with pre releases then?
/QUOTE]

The problem is HMV only dispatch the game on the day of release. Where as places like Play, Gameplay send them 2 days before so you get it on day of release. Shopto.net is good for getting games early, they send it out as soon as they get them.
#28
Not really people are posting decent items. I for one didnt even think about the games i only bought the dvds and therefore bought 3 games on preorder and saved a few quid. I dont see the problem just dont open the thread if you dont like the look of the title.

To work out how much you will end up paying after the 15% HMV discount, and then the 11% Quidco cashback, just multiply the current HMV price by 0.7565

ie. £39.99 x 0.7565 = £30.25

effectively a 24.35% discount

(Last week with the 20% HMV discount and 9% Quidco it worked out as a 27.2% discount)

just put my order through and quidco have put £4.21 in My Earnings section, wot does this mean, will they take £4.21 off my price with the HMV order or is this free money which i can keep??????
#31
Free money you can keep however I believe if your quidco amount ever goes above £5 then quidco will be allowed to take a £5 annual fee from your account. Someone will confirm this though.

The latter, Killabyte. Each time you buy through quidco, you will earn some cashback, a bit like using a credit card that gives cashback.
#33
so how do i get this cashback??? its only in my earning section, will it stay there or do i have to email quidco and ask them to send it me?

Leave it at £0 that way whateva money you earn will go straight into ur Paypal account once Quidco receive it.

As for the £5 admin fee that is a one off payment each year, after that any money you earn is all yours!!! But they only take it out of monies you earn.

HMV Have cancelled my order for Gears of War and Call of Duty on Satuarday 4th of November I was using the promtion code WK8495 and quidco 11% link. The email from them is vague.
Has anyone else had problems cancellations?
Is the code still valid?
Was the code valid for new users?
