Too slow? Mine gives a better benchmark than my wifes Desire HD and runs everything thrown at it.

Great phones, on my 3rd now and keep coming back to em.

What is this company like?? Anybody ordered before ??

Review needed before purchase

Thanks alot
#5
Looks like a pretty cool phone that I would really consider if I was in the market!
#6
don't know about the deal, but the phones the best i ever had. had it for over a year now and been running Android on it most the time. still keeping up with all the latest phones.

i have it windows 6.5 is just horrible u must not use it ( unusable). Put andriod on is a must, it can run ubuntu too if you want it to.
#8
got mine running WP7 runs like a dream plus you can mod it to your liking
#9
I'm not being sentimental but I dont think I will get rid of mine anytime soon. I tasted android 2.3 gingerbread on my HD2 even before my Mrs got her update from Vodafone which was just last night. The HD2 is the best phone I have ever owned and if mine were broke I think this deal would have been a no brainer for me :)

Hmm, not sure about them, reviews here http://www.shobby.co.uk/shop,207.html don't look so good.

Which rom you using? I tried it once and it was buggy and not able to go onto market etc.

They say they have addressed the issue in those reviews: As of April 2011, all orders arriving to the UK, Europe & Rest of the World- will have any additional customs and import duties pre-paid. This effectively means, the price you have paid on the website is the total price you’ll ever have to pay for your item- there will be no additional charges whatsoever.

is there a way of totally replacing Windows with Android? Or do you need to boot Windows, then launch Android whenever you turn it on

Yeah you totally replace it and it runs android from nand (internal memory) It runs perfect too and you cant tell the difference in looks or performance to my wifes desire hd. It boots directly to android.

Sounds good. Might try and pick up a second hand HD2 to replace my San Francisco as the internet on it is a bit sluggish, even with a decent browser like Opera or Dolphin
#18
Yeah its worlds apart from the blade a I have had one. You can get one for around 150 quid and its worth every penny.

was the first DFT release, got a key from microsoft, done a few registry tweaks to stop Zune locking the phone, all apps work, market place works, the new releases with the NODO updat are out and look very good, will get round to flashing soon.
info here

May have to give it another try then. Though it does seem lacking compared to android somehow.

just a FYI, you can get a mint HD2 for around £150 on the bay, plus £5 postage if you haggle

i brought one for me and one for my bro

in terms of what it can do, its specs and its cost, its probably the best smartphone PERIOD when you take everything into consideration, hell, 6 months ago you could just about get a average condition HD2 for £180-200
#22
Whats the main difference between this and the Desire HD ?
#23
if you're not bothered about the grading of it then you can pick up a b grade for about £185 from CEX depending on network you're on. i sold mine for £200 exchange @ CEX about a year ago as it didnt have enough ram for me & I also heard no Windows mobile 7 upgrade from HTC. all the other specs were good though, especially the HTC sense on it making usability a dream :)

So I now have the Desire HD :D

you blates have a nokia 3310 right?
#25
I'm considering this, I'm not too bad at modding as i did it with my old G1 <3

But that broke due to Hardware problem! :(

So what do you people think, This or the HTC Desire HD or the Google Nexus S?
suspended#26
One of THE best phones i have ever owned! Pretty reliable, fell down many stairs and stuff (survived!) and it was just damn fast, great size/shape and its clear that the competitors have taken a lot from the HD2 (even apple... rofl).

I just broke mine after 16 months :(, dropped from head height onto stone slabs (hit the corner of a raised one, ugh) shattered top right of screen (worked fine i might add) tried to replace it but failed in my attempt of fixing the screen, got a cracking deal on the LG optimus 2x and that is on par with the HD2 if not better BUT HD2 is just solid as it keeps up with most phones even after being near 2 years old, and having every single mobile OS and even linux/windows 95/98 etc its just insane!

Best value for money :D.

May i add, it uses gorilla glass aswell!

Your pricing isnt far off, i bought a mint condition one a few weeks ago for £150 :) Loving having a mess around, managed to boot wp7 on it and it works mint, haven't made all the services run yet until i dual boot it with android 2.3 and definitely know what i want.
#28
Absolutely stonking phone. Had mine for 15 months and have not even looked at upgrading, cos it doesn't seem dated or behind the new phones. Does everything I want and more and thats on froyo running from the SD card smooth as silk, just about to try the gingerbread but not too bothered if it's not up to scratch as I said it runs like a dream. Grab the cheapest one and you can mod the hell out of it, it's easy and fun <3

LOL, this phone can run WM 6.5, Android and Windows phone 7, hence the title "geek phone"

Your a fool for selling this and buying the desire HD when this is the exact same phone only better coz it runs windows phone 7 and android too.

Had one at launch, nice phone but hated the windows 6.5 had no end of trouble with it so after a lot of complaining as it broke twice they swapped it out for the Desire and i never looked back. The HD2 is old hat with old tech and at that price you would need to be mad, just remember that if you flash this phone and brick it or cant get back to the stock rom its warranty is void and for the best part of £300 holes its only really for peope who just enjoy messing and before anyone says i have no clue what im talking about ive rooted all my phones and my Advent Vega as you have better control over how it works, for the average joe look else where.

Just wanna say rooting HTC's doesn't void the warranty, I rooted my first G1 and they gave me a new one quite happily when it bricked...

There is no official android or windows update for this phone and wont be, People made custom android, windows roms for this phone meaning it’s not official and not everything will work at 100percent so things can go wrong .You can also screw the phone up by doing this and some type of hd2 phones are not easy to change to android or windows7, you need to know alot of stuff and need to read up.

btw please dont call me a fool.

I remember reading that WM6.5 isnt dead.... far from it! WP7 is a different bread, MS hasnt killed off 6.5 and is planing to upgrade it to windows embedded handheld or something, basically a business orientated OS, simply put not a toy! So the original WM 6.5.3 may not be killed off completely, its still got an upgrade path (possibly)

Also WM has been going for what, 13 years? thats impressive :D. WM can do everything the iphone OS can do and more so dont know why youd say wm is bad.

Android is better than IOS its a given but at the minute im still prefering my trusty WM, menus were in correct places and i never had to go searching random places for them, quick boot and had everything.

edit: So many posts while i was afk! Its stupidly easy to flash roms etc, requires like 5-10mins max to understand what you do... admittedly android is slightly more difficult but it really doesnt take long. The risk is negligible, if you do something stupid like flashing a rom that was meant specifically for the US t-mobile version then thats your own fault, never bricked mine... Simply flash HSPL to it and then flash a WM rom essentially, android requires clockworkmod or you can use magldr(something like that), both pee easy to do. And android on microsd card is even easier, simply flash a WM rom that supports it and then boot from there, NRG (energy roms) does one iirc and his roms are rock solid.

Also, the phones tech isnt out dated really, compare it to the Desire/Desire S/desire HD and it kicks ass... same CPU but the HD/S has a slightly better gpu but honestly i dont think youd see the difference. The fact that in almost 2 years the HD2 has similar hardware says something, its also smaller than the HD yet it has the same size screen and more buttons... lol?.

Sold my HD2 a while ago and got a nexus s... Wish I hadn't. Got a Galaxy S II now and it is a far better phone but the HD2 is the ultimate geek phone. It's performance with android is right up there with the current range of android phones, pretty remarkable considering its age and that it was never designed to do it.

I got rid of mine because at the time android development on it was still very buggy and unreliable, now it's totally practical for using as every day builds and not just something to experiment with. Wish I'd kept it in a drawer rather than ebay!

The android builds are pretty much 100% rock solid and work better and faster than some stock android phones like your htc desire HD
