That's a bad price for a terrible card.

I need a GTX card for my son for Christmas but can't work out how much I need to spend to get a decent one. He has an NVidia shield and is starting to want to play more graphics heavy games on Steam. Would the 1060 be a good bet?

Sorry cold from me. I would say by now 2GB cards have definitely had their day and will probably start to slow down even at 1080P and in this day and age that really should be the minimum you would want to play at. If budget restricts one to a 2GB card then fair enough but you should still be paying less than £100 for it otherwise you could be buying something much better.

You'd probably get better performance out of a second hand PS4 and could likely get it for less too.....

Yes, the 1060 is a powerful card for the price. The 6GB is a bit more future proofed but you can sometimes get the 3GB version significantly cheaper and at 1080P there is barely any difference, it creeps up at 1440P and 4K but still nothing major to separate them....

might go for the 4gb ti version. dont think kids pc would handle past 1080p as its only an i3

4GB 1050Ti has to really be the baseline budget gaming card now - unless you can pick up a cheap 950/960 ...
