Overclockers deals are allways contraversial. Historically they had a bad rep (I think they changed management?) , and some people reporting issues. Personally, i have never had a problem.

bought plenty from them, never had a problem so i wouldnt let it put you off an otherwise good deal. Personally i can wait for a DX11

Sorry chaz1992 but this is a destop graphics card, no way you could get it to work in a laptop. You'd have to look out for the "mobile" version and then check with Dell if it would work.

They might have changed management and got even worse though but I'm not aware of that lol.

Their prices are hardly ever anything to write home about and their product support is an absolute joke at times. They insist on you returning faulty products direct to the manufacturer and a couple of years ago even went so far as to imply the law says they don't have to do any of the donkey work if the manufacturer provides a warranty.

The problem with them is that they're too clever for their own good. It's run by people who are complete computer geeks (nothing wrong with that). But by being like that they think they know what's best for the consumer just (i.e forcing you to RMA graphics cards to the manufacturer)

There was an ongoing thing there a couple of years ago where the manufacturer "hercules" had a batch of faulty cards and people were having to wait around 6 weeks for a replacement. Totally not on! Taking into account if you don't have a spare your computer is useless.

Add to this their infamous "forums" where it's against the rules to discuss anything related to their shop buisness yet it's also against the rules to mention ANY other retailer that sells anything that they do - or might do in the future. Even if it's to help out another person.

Money grabbing skum if you ask me, I've bought the odd thing from them a few years back, at the time they were the only company in the UK to stock certain more esoteric computer bits, but now there's plenty of choice and I just don't like the way it's all run.

they are quite frustrating as they stock a lot of performance parts that the likes of scan an ebuyer dont (ram mainly, very good selection), but their customer service and rma is appauling. i brought some laptop memory from them, only for a desktop set to turn up and have them turn round and say its my fault (despite the product being listed as laptop sodimm, the same manufacturers part number as the sodimm on the corsair website and the same image!) and i had to fight for nearly 2 weeks to get the money back for the item and the cost of return postage and original postage. best bet if you do buy from them is to go in person and return in person, its easier to fob someone off on the phone/email but in front of a store full of customers its a lot more difficult

Ive had some good deals from them, but when i had two items go faulty the hassle they caused put me right of dealing with em ever again. Just hope nothing goes faulty, otherwise i do rate this deal.

3 months warranty is no different to a 12 months warranty where OcUK are concerned (both are equally worthless).

I realise that the 460 probably uses less power and emits less noise, and it has DX11 support so more future-proof, but according to the chart in post #2 the 285 is actually more powerful.

3 month warranty on something for £150? considering how quick some graphics cards die i wouldn't risk it myself plus i'd rather get the 460

Overclockers are the worst retailer I have ever had the displeasuer to deal with. They even STOLE money from my credit card.

Did you even look at the chart posted earlier? gtx285 is clearly much faster still, but then it was top range card of its time, 460 is not top range card.

I've bought plenty from OcUK, for me personally they've been awesome, ive ordered at 5pm and had my goods the next morning on a regular basis. Ps i am a member of that forum to, and some workers are there for further help for the customers.

For me they seem to be one of the best, but thats just a personal experiance i guess.

...and no i dont work there btw lol.

One game benchmark, at one res with 4x AA and this means the 285 is definitively better than the 460? Get real guys.

Would never deal with Overclockers again.

I had to return 2 faulty items (same item, both faulty) by special delivery. I was told on numerous occasions by telephone and email that, because the items were faulty I would get refunded the cost of returning the items. 3 years later still waiting.

Not voted either way.

Hi, can't say anything else about OcUK that they're usually a bit more expensive than other, but usually stock more high end gear and their stock OEM build are pretty clever (but again expensive)

As for the actual item, cold because you can get brand new DX11 compatible Fermi GTX460 with more VRAM and better SLI scaling (the above charts actually illustrate that).

Used to order alot from OCUK but had a problem with a motherboard which in the end I had to get trading standards involved.... was soon sorted by item and delivery charges refunded. I still would buy stuff off them but nothing major which I may have to return. Ebuyer and Scan all the way.

LOL - Every1 hates OCUK.

I don't deal with them because they're never cheaper than ebuyer or Scan.
But now that I've heard all this other stuff about the company, I'll never do business with them.

I've bought plenty of stuff from them. Never had a single problem from them.

Only today I received delivery of an item (lian li drive cage), which is not available anywhere on the net. Item arrived (a little late), but arrived well packaged.

Ive never had too much bother with them, they sent me replacement RAM straight away without having to RMA to manufacturer and that was nearly 2 years ago i think. I do however think they're prices are slightly inflated in comparison and their forums do have a lot of right wing discussions shall we say!! Regardless of all that i think this is a good deal, and voting hot!

Yeyyyyy I'm loving the Anti OCUK vibe in here.

It's quite reassuring to know that as a direct result of their **** customer service they are genuinely going to be losing some sales from word of mouth.

Been an ocuk customer for ten years never had a single issue with anything but I guess I've been lucky as I also use other etailers and hear horror stories about all of the three I use and never had an issue with any of them :)

Deal doesn't really interest me but its a good price for a still decent card.

You have a lap top - this card is for a desk top - it will not fit - in fact it will not fit in all desk tops!!

This is the EXACT thing tht happened to me twice. First time it was with this shop owned by what seemed like an indian family in london. Bought a graphics card from them, which turned out to be faulty. We needed a graphics card DESPERATELY at the time, and as this one was faulty we took it back to the store. They told us that the guy who sold me the card had flown out to india and would be back in a few weeks. We could leave the card with them or send it to the manufacturer as they did not have any other in stock at the moment. Frustrated I said, I would like a refund - bearing in mind this is the second day from purchase. To my utter horror, i was told that if I wanted a refund a "restocking" fee would be charged, which at the time came out to be £80. In the end I was so frustrated I paid the £80 and stormed out. Guess whom I saw as I got into my car. let's just say the chap who had flown to india must have decided to cut his trip short.

The second instance AGAIN, involved an asian gentleman with an indian name. It was from a website which I can no longer locate. Anyways, after placing the order with them for a price I thought was attractive at the time, I waited for a week before contacting them only to get an email back saying the item was on back order as it were out of stock. Two weeks later, I contacted them again to hear nothing back. The next two weeks followed by several emails with no reply. Finally I traced their telephone number only to have the indian chap tell me they would be getting in touch with me if I gave them my details.

The nest thing I hear, I heard from them through email, saying the item I required was not in stock yet, and the estimated time of despatch would be 4-6 weeks. So I shot back an email saying "no thank you, please refund me".

Shockingly they replied and said all cancellations were followed by a charge of 5% of the original order sum.

Anyhow, a little wiser thsi time around, I decided to contact my bank and recover my money.

I know it is probably a bad coincidence I my bad expereince was with indian gentlemen both times, however these days I find it easier to put down the phone, or not order altogether if I hear an indian voice on the other line. It is sad, as a lot of my freinds are indian - who strangely enough, have advised me to stay away from indian websites and computer shops.

Just sharing my experience, hope this will inform and help.

They are an excellent retailer and I have been using them for years.

not had a single issues with them.

I order stuff that 99% gets delivered the next day.

Some of you guys really do talk some b0llox.

Seriously if a company was as bad as some of you made out they'd have gone down the tubes years ago. Any issues Ive had with ocuk have quickly been resolved and since they moved they only seem to have got better. They may not be perfect but there are far worse etailors to buy from.

Have to agree with everything said here about OcUK. It would have to be a very good deal indeed to persuade me to give them any money of mine. Last time I ordered a 'brand new' graphics card, the fan was covered in dust ... OcUK's response was it was probably from testing at the factory. It clearly had months worth of dust built up on the fan and heatsink. Don't get me wrong, the card worked fine, but after being ignored and put off until the 7 day returns limit was gone (their words, not mine) I gave up and decided to cut my losses; I'd rather never deal with them again. Plenty of other retailers to choose from.

I also have to agree that despite the lower out of the box performance, I'd rather have a 460 and overclock it.

I had a simple CPU fan that arrived non-functioning. It was like a £16 item too. So I'm like "No big deal, I'll just get a replacement." Tried e-mail, tried calling, no answer to either (literally the phone just rings and rings). Tried for two months, no response at all, and then I just gave up. I've never ordered from them since. All over a £16 CPU fan. The guy earlier who claims you can post on their forums and ask for help is totally lying, I tried posting, and my post was deleted and I was banned. It was a VERY polite post too - just said what the problem was and that I was struggling to contact anyone.

Since then I've read that they donate money to the BNP and have strong Nazi ties. Google "Overclockers UK Nazi" or "Overclockers UK BNP."

Lastly, I've returned items to both Dabs and Amazon UK, both of which have a flawless return policy. I've happily pay 5% more to Dabs if it meant that I am covered if something goes wrong (as it sometimes does with computer parts).

PS - Interesting all the glowing positive reviews. Either none of these people have ever tried to return an item, or the OCUK forums/staff have gotten word about this deal.

I know a guy who was ripped off to the tune of £1110 by them. He ordered a computer's worth of gear, which was apparently delivered, but to the wrong house. As far as OCUK were concerned, they had proof of delivery, and would not budge.
