Not too many of these left across the country, but these 2010 model tents are part of the Makro 40th Anniversary sale and had been reduced to £100 + VAT.

What particularly makes them a bargain right now is that the current brochure offers for Makro have 33% off all Camping Equipment, including this bargain, knocking the price down from £100 to £67 + VAT.

Although it was last years model it still retails for £169.99 or more at the majority of online Outdoor Retailers, and had a RRP of £279.99.

For £79 you are getting a lot of tent for your money for sure, needed a new tent so we snapped this one up.

Gets fantastic reviews over at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/tents/p/Gelert-Lakesbury-5/1027

Current brochure offers run until 28th June, so if your local has one of these in stock, there will be the 33% off the usual clearance price of £100...after 28th June the 33% off Camping offer will end...so snap them up whilst you can if you are at all interested.

You won't find a 5 Berth 3000 HH waterproof tent for this price anywhere of this quality.

Why the cold votes? Can anyone find this cheaper regardless of whether or not you are a Makro card holder? Cannot find this cheaper reconditioned on Ebay even.

Being that the offer is limited to a specific group of people, that could be a reason for the lack of hot votes. But how do you know it's had 'cold votes? There is no counter to tell us the number of votes cast so we have no idea how the voting has gone on this. It may well be that people haven't voted cold but simply a case that only a few people have voted hot.

Prolly 'cos there is less than 20 throughout the whole country.
Just 'cos it's cheap, doesn't mean it's a hot deal.

What constitutes a hot deal then?!

Anyone that wants a tent, has a Makro card (or can acquire one) and has a store near them that has it in stock is welcome to have this deal...prefer if I didn't post it at all...your logic is flawed.

I would prefer this site to function whereby someone finds a good deal, regardless of stock shortage, to "help" out others that are looking for hot deals, this I have done.

With Summer fast approaching and people on the look out for tent deals, this is about the best anyone can find. I have listed stocks in stores, not as if I am sending anyone off on a fools errand.

Because after I posted it it went cold before picking up votes....this site is getting worse, unless you post a joke deal like "cock soup" you may as well save your time posting.

I do agree that for twenty people throughout the country that need a new tent, this is a great deal.
But for the rest of the population this is not even worth considering.
There has always been a great debate on here as to what constitutes a hot deal.

My opinion is that just 'cos it's the cheapest, doesn't mean it's a hot deal.
Not everyone shares my opinion, but we are all free to have our own opinion.
I could sell dog turds for a penny, does that mean it's a hot deal?

I have seen some stuff on here posted really cheap and I had already bought said stuff and 'cos it was a rubbish product and fell to bits within hours, I voted cold.
Yes, it was the cheapest price for that product, but that product was crap, so I voted cold. ( And gave my reasons for doing so. )
Don't you think it only fair to warn others?

Once again, this is of use to, at most, 19 people across the whole country, it's not going to get scorching is it?

I never said, or expected it to get scorching, just wondered why the cold votes (when in the first instance it went cold), I "hope" it would gain some heat to "alert" those that are interested in whatever area of the country to this deal.

Whilst I agree that something cheap doesn't make it a deal (i.e a **** is a **** plain and simple) But this is a quality manufacturer of a quality tent, 5 Berth 3000 HH Tents of a near £300 RRP do not come this cheap anywhere, and I challenge you to find a better deal, regardless of stock availability.

I personally differ on voting, even if stock availability of an item is low across the country and not available to myself, if it is a hot deal to whomever can get it, it still is a hot deal as far as I am concerned, and warrants heat (and I apply it) so it is on the radar of hot deals. To me it is a selfish attitude to take if there is a hot deal (i.e not a lousy product and cheaper than anywhere else) and you personally cannot get it to just vote cold

This may be of use to only 19 people in the country, but I bet you that although stocks have been sitting now in Makro for the past two months in the sale, now this has been alerted on here, within the next few days (like any other limited Makro stock clearance deal) after been posted on here they will all be snapped up.

I do agree with you in that 19 peeps will find this a great deal, but I think we will have to differ on what constitutes a hot deal.
I personally don't think 19 of anything would even warrant posting on here, but as I said earlier, we are all free to have our own opinions.
I'm not having a dig at you personally and please don't take it that way.
It can sometimes be hard not to sound vicious when typing out words rather than speaking them face to face with someone.

By the way, liked for finding and posting the guided tour.

Point taken, for me personally if 1 person is grateful of a deal to me it is worth the effort posting, I understand with typing out words, without phonetics and lack of emoticon use it is difficult to gauge intent no offence taken.

Appreciate the "like" thanks.

£349.99 in Argos buit I assume that is a later model.

The image doesn't show the side that matters to see the difference, but it would be the 2011 model, ridiculously the 2011 model whilst having a porch over the door entrance is a £70 difference in RRP over the 2008-2010 model.

Here is an image of the other side of the tent for comparisons :

Gelert also do a cotton version of the tent for £750 rrp.

Well there has to have been at least one person who voted hot so you've achieved your aim.

Keep posting man, if it gets heat great, if it doesn't, so what? If 'you' think something is a great deal and someone else thinks it's not, that's normal human nature. The world would be a very dull place if we all liked the same things. The fact that this site occasionally has listings for items that receive ridiculous amounts of heat (in the opinion of some), is neither here nor there. It's ALL a matter of 'opinion'. If we don't like that then we shouldn't open the forum up to just anyone, it should be a closed forum... how boring would that be??? And how would you get to hear about some strange deals that 'someone' might think is 'hot'?

Just remember, this 'deal' isn't 'your' deal. It's a deal made available by a retailer. If the retailer doesn't like what people think of their deals then they're more than welcome to come here and make a statement but the most obvious response from a retailer who is successful is to listen to what their customers and prospective customers think and then act on that accordingly. When Woolworths went down it was a shame. They were almost a national institution. But they got greedy (or rather their shareholders did), and they failed to move with the times. I remember going into Woolworths as a lad with my mother. She would spend a fair amount of money in there. But they had very few competitors back then and they didn't really have to try very hard. Now there are many competitors in many sectors and the ones that are successful, evolve. They don't stick with 'how they've always done it'. Even M&S have had to shift in the way they retail. At one point in time names like Q&A, BHS etc where high street giants, now they're either gone or struggling for survival. I've seen some of the 'To Business' retailers (who are 'only open to business owners'), change their stance. Some now allow the general public. We lament over the loss of some of our big retailers but in truth, we're all looking for quality products at the cheapest price. The trick for the retailer is to learn what the majority of the public want and to deliver it at the lowest possible price. Do that and you're guaranteed to out do your competitors. Anyway, I digress. Keep posting bud.... I'm looking for a decent tent at the minute! :D
