According to the Gerlert website, they have a 3000mm hydrostatic head. (very good for a tent of this price). and weighs 6kg so should be okay for the summer festival season!

Take the 3 man thing with a pinch of sodium chloride mind, I have a similar size tent and sleeps 2 adults fairly comfortably but would like 3 with all the gear.

In my experience Gelert do very well made tents.

I was brought up on camping holidays in Wales. Heard this story when I first walked past the grave many years ago. Lovely spot and yes very sad story.

I stayed there a couple of years ago, lovely area but it chucked it down. And sideways. In fact it would have been an ideal time to test a 3000mm hydrostatic head tent...

Does anyone have one of these and can comment on how suitable it would be for novice campers? We went in a cheap tent in September last year and liked it want to go a few times this year but would like a new tent and this is the sort of price we were thinking. Is there anything better for a similar price, or any recommended models we could get second hand for a similar amount? We have a car so weight isn't too much of an issue, and ideally 3 man although 2 man would suffice if the price and quality was right. Thanks in advance

I bought the 4 person dome version of this tent for Glastonbury last year. It was a piece of cake to put up (10 mins max with fly sheet) and really quick to put away. It folds away into a flat circle arrangement (about 2.5ft across), but is really light and easy to throw on your back because of carry handle. Hopefully this one is the same. I went with three mates who all had small tents. When the heavy rains came their's all leaked. But my Gelert was as dry as a bone. Really well made tent and for £59 a bargain (think I paid about same for mine last year). I agree with comment about size. My four man sleeps two comfortably and three at a squeeze. I suspect this will do two comfortably with some room for storage. Will be using it again for Glasto this year.

Me and my fiance bought this exact tent last year.

We took it to cormwall and it rained nearly the whole time. The tent was really well waterproofed and easy to put up/take down. In fact its one of the easyest tents i've ever put up.

We absolutely loved it, theres loads of space inside too and was just perfect for our week away.

You cant go wrong for the money Gelert themselves were selling this for about £150 when we bought ours.

Its a perfect all rounder. Great in most situations and great for novice campers and more serious ones alike.

I really do rate this tent and would recomend to anyone thinking of buying but sitting on the fence.

Hope this helps

Gets decent enough reviews....and a good brand name.

Price is about £10 lower than the next cheapest....so looks to be a decent bargain,

Heat and rep to OP:thumbsup:

Best similar priced model I can find is one I bought last year for a couple of festivals.

Excellent tent and very dry although I think it may be a Kg lighter than the Gelert.
You can rarely go wrong with Outwell but to be honest I think the Gelert is probably a slightly better deal. Get in there before they run out! Alternatively look on Ebay around spring when people are upgrading, you may get a good deal on a 4-6 man.

I'll see you there then. Oh and your mates will be fine this year because it's not going to rain...

I had one of these for Glasto last year.

Good tent all round, will sleep 2 comfortably but 3's a squeeze.
A breeze to erect and collapse.

ALTHOUGH

Mine did take a hammering (It was Glasto after all) The door zip broke and one of the guy ropes snapped.

Saying that I have been on the lookout for this or a similar tent for this year.

Got one last year. Very good quality and lots of room for the money. Quick to set up and put away. Some people get very upset with trying to put it back in the bag. you have to follow the instructions and roll it into the bag-easy once you get the knack and don't try to fold it using just your arms i.e. you must flex the fitted poles on the ground in the bag.

yeah and don't be afraid to be really forceful with the poles, they're very durable and bend alot (have one of the twister 4's). When I bought it I spent half a day trying to get the thing back in the bag when i was at home (stupidly tried to put it away on a hard wood floor), I was close to sending it back but as soon as I got on to grass it was a doddle, takes a minute to fold it away now, very impressed

Thanks for all the advice, need to decide if I have enough money to splash out on it now (poor student)!

All gone it seems. Shame I may have been tempted by this. Several Glastobury's, several tents, several leaks.
