Must admit I'm more of a fan of the Gabriel years and already have the 1970-1974 Box Set in my collection which is fantastic, but at this price I can't resist adding it to my ever growing SACD collection.

RRP is over £100 and most online stores have this collection at between £80 - £90 so a cracking price!

For those after the earlier years(1970-74 and 1976-82), see one of my earlier posts http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/399221/genesis-1970-1975-7-sacd-hybrid-6-d Still the best price on those two.

Sad that SACD releases are either overpriced, deleted, or plainly drying up.

Yeah, the more I add to my collection, the less new choices I have. DVD-Audio seems to be just about surviving but SACD is all but dead now(as far as non-classical new releases go). Shame as I prefer SACD to DVD-Audio, although even DVD-A I grab what I can.

It is sad when a superior format fails to grab the mainstream, people are too happy settling for compressed downloadable music these days to care.

It's also a shame that Genesis can't be be ars~d to write any new material and stick to cashing in on back catalogue and dwidling fan base.

Regardless, for people with SACD players, especially those that enjoy a good high-res multi-channel mix, these are very good re-releases, far superior sound quality to the redbook releases IMO.

I'm glad they dont write any new material.... It got embarrasing. The mighty Gabriel years to the horrid blemish on prog that was Phil Collins. Once Steve Hackett left there was no 'oomph' left in the composing anyway....

...and the chap who took over vocals from phil collins..... dont even go there!!!

As I mentioned earlier, I preferred the original Gabriel fronted years(prog rock at its finest), but I don't dislike the Collins years, I don't even really think of the later stuff as prog rock, they were really more pop by then IMO, but still good stuff, just totally different to what they started out as.

Now Phil Collins solo career is a different matter all together, didn't really like any of that:roll:

The music buying public these days are either kids downloading or impulse buys in supermarkets.

I like you I have a system to do Multi Channel surround music justice but I really have a very small collection as the majority of titles are way out of my price range. It is a real shame as I love the formats. Not a Genesis fan so I wont be going for these but its a hot deal and a greta find for those who like the band and the 5.1 mixes!

If you are a prog fan and can use DVDA (which thankfully, the PS3 hitched up optically to a 5.1 speaker set can do), may I suggest Porcupine Tree's In absentia? Cracking DVDA! or the Fear of a blank Planet one :)
