  I buy the same ones from my supplier in Manchester... 87p + Vat
  
  The quality is OK and they look the part and do the job... You find though that the plug will not go fully into
  the Iphone4 with a bumper on which is a nuisance....

  not genuine ones but looks wise very similar and also good quality ones you can get from B&M's for £1.50 or 2 for £2 and no these are not similar to ones found in poundland which look cheap and low quality

  Good point, 5v DC, especially at a heady 500mah, is renowned for killing people, best keep the kids away from motor vehicles too, they pose a serious threat what with the massive 12v DC systems they run.

  I got some of these previously and whilst they do work they don't charge an iphone 4s as quick as genuine cables. Approx. 1% increase every 3 minutes vs approx 1% every 1 minute. They also hardly charge an iPad. If u use the iPad while charging the battery actually continues to drop. I complained on eBay and was told they sell genuine and OEM cables and my order must've got mixed up. Hmmm. I got a refund to stop me posting negative feedback I suppose but I'd check the charging speed once received.
  
  A quick way of telling is that the genuine cables have a longer rubber part where the cable enters the back of the USB or 30 pin connector then OEM. The picture above shows non genuine cable.

  I got a coupe off an Amazon market place seller for the kids ipods for about 70p deliverd. Look and feel exactly like genuine ones. And as for the fake ones charging slower than genuine ones...... What complete rubbish lol :)

  I agree about the 5V business, but a car battery may only be 12V but it carries some serious power/charge (Amps). A car battery if it explodes could Kill quite easily or cause serious burns. I've known them explode and been very difficult to find the pieces!

  you get them on amazon marketplace for 60p delivered. they do the same job. so long as you have a 10w usb charger for the 4s any cable works
