should work but personally i would recomend you looking out for this "90W AC ADAPTER PA-10" or have a look at this not much more expensive http://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-PA-10-Latitude-Precision-Dell/dp/B002SYSBG6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1277986781&sr=1-1

Usefully the tech spec doesn't include the wattage, but I believe this is 65W assuming it's the same as the PA-12 in my hand here. Some newer beefier Dell's need a 90W / PA-10 (like the Studio XPS etc). Just sayin'.

90W options for £15/£17:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Adapter-Latitude-Inspiron-D-Docking/dp/B000NE49SW/ref=pd_cp_ce_1
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Dell-Adapter-Charger-Inspiron/dp/B000VWQXH6/ref=pd_cp_ce_3
* Other far better online stores are available.

Decent deal.

they should have pa12 etc... on the back of the old charger, if it does means it should work, did on my m11x

This is almost perfect timing! My girlfriend has fried her adapter, but I've managed to get hold of a spare one for free. :P
#9
whats the end like on this? I wonder if it will fit my X1
#10
the PA10 can power the docking station aswell, where the PA12 cant.

Worth paying a bit more for the extra wattage.

best thing is to look under your charger power brick and if it reads pa-12 then this one is identical to it

"selected" = "a limited number of" - marketing drivel at its worst!

The trouble with buying a more powerful adaptor than necessary is that it will be bigger, heavier and probably slightly less efficient. The flip side is that it will likely be more reliable.

Watch out...it does not include a power lead. Your old one will probably not work as this charger needs a two pin one rather than three pin. Fortunately figure of 8 are easy to come by.

"Product Description
Power cord not included Requires C7 type also known as figure of eight to fully connect this to mains power. "

It also says: "FREE UK Power Cord Including Immediate Dispatch"

Very confusing...........

I've just done the same, only mine was £18.oo or thereabouts with free postage and i thought i was getting a bargain

*edit* but mine comes with the plug not just the adapter; as a poster above said it wasn't clear whether this did or not - conflicting information.
