This offer appears to be in store only, as it is not shown online.

Tesco are currently offering 25% off when you buy 6 single bottles of ale or lager of 1 litre or below. 1 litre bottles of San Miguel Premium Lager are £1.88, so if you buy 6, they work out at £1.41 each and this equates to 80p per pint.

This is the real Spanish lager, which is 4.5% ABV. This is totally different from the 5% ABV San Miguel that is sold in multipacks of smaller bottles, as this is brewed by Scottish and Newcastle in the UK.

For comparison, the best current offer for bottles of Stella, is 40 x 284ml for £16 at Tesco / Asda / Sainsbury's and this works out at exactly the same price per litre. Granted the Stella is a bit stronger (5.2% ABV) and the big 1 litre bottles of San Miguel won't be to everyone's taste, but if you're looking for the real deal, this is a good price.

HOT. I love it too, think a trip to Tesco might be in order.
#3
Love it too! I stayed about 10 mins drive from San Miguel when I went to Spain last year, these bottles were .90 Euros so about 60p give or take so this really is a great bargain for that stuff to be exported to the UK!
#4
Voted hot! I've always enjoyed it on our hols.
#5
A bargain if you like it:p To be honest I've only ever supped it in Tenerife and thought it was orrible! Any deals on the old Merrydown Cider though and I'm in!

Very nice drink in the sun - not the same over here.... good price tho
#8
yeah, need to be in the Balearics to enjoy this. nice though.
#9
not genuine imported, its brewed in england.
#10
Not a nationwide offer either.

The Rugby store has the "buy 6 get 25% off", the Warwick and Leamington ones don't.

Still, a good deal if your store does ie - Erdinger/Etalon/Weihenstefan etc at 25% off always appreciated....

Think the litre bottles are really imported. Other package types are definitely brewed in this country
#12
can someone please expire this,if my hubby sees it i wont get him to work, its his fav.

Funniest post ever. What a loser!
#15
not really, if you go to malaga and taste san miguel its far different from the one here, i did when i was over in spain last year, the one brewed in spain is smoother and better.

A lager drinker mocking a Merrydown drinker - how very bizarre.
Bubbles - Tesco sometimes stick Merrydown on offer,or if you have one near you,Bargain Booze do it for 3 for a fiver,or (at the moment) 2 for £4.

whos idea was it to stop importing spanish san miguel and foister uk brewed muck on us?
#18
Thats narsty stuff that

the stuff in spain is anyway
not sure about the uk stuff
#19
that stuff is rotten in spain! trust me, i lived there! but i think you are in luck because that could not be genuinely imported. San Miguel in Spain is 5.5%. You will struggle to find a beer in Spain that is less than 5% ABV. Mahou standard brew is 4.8%, that was the weakest we could find!!!
#20
This will be imported.
S&N don't do litre bottles in the UK, but will be introducing 660ml bottles soon. Trials start next week ;-)
Watch out for the new lagers 'Fosters Scuba' and 'Kronenbourg Dynamo'........gunna be some good 'launch offers' soon :)

Just to clarify.
The 1 litre bottles are imported and brewed in Spain. The multipacks and most of the other San Miguel is brewed here in Hereford, yes, the home of Cider (try Westons for the best drop, the rest tend to be for teenagers!), not best known as part of Spain and sadly neither do we enjoy the Spanish weather.
The Spanish brewed is far nicer and in Spain San Miguel do quite few different brews that if you get the chance are well worth it.
#22
Nice price but the stuff brewed here is definitely inferior, just like all the others.. It's always going to be better when it's imported so I'm usually only drink Heineken but great deal if you can get it!
#23
rotton in spain? lol, are you sure thats not mahou you were drinking?
#24
just to state. i have been to many countries around the world and love to try their main beer. this is the worst beer i have had in my travels. amazing deal for fans.
#25
I wouldnt say the worst, ive seen and tasted worse before. Some i wouldnt qualify as beer.

Thats because you dont know what real beer taste like.

As the original poster on this thread, I thought I might as well give a review of the lager. I got six of the 1 litre bottles and drank a couple last night.

Basically, it's perfectly drinkable, but nothing special. I guess you could say it is clean and crisp, but it doesn't really taste of anything much. My usual drink is bottled Becks and I would rate that as superior to the San Miguel. Equally, I got a load of the Portuguese Super Bock that was on special offer from Sainsbury's recently and this had a more distinctive taste and much more of a kick to it than the San Miguel (obviously at least partly due to the extra strength - 5.6% ABV as opposed to 4.5% ABV).

Overall, 5/10 for the San Miguel. Just to be clear these 1 litre bottles are genuine imported lager and I imagine they taste a whole lot better in the Spanish sunshine.
