Painstakingly restored and remastered - this is horror legend George A Romero's legendary masterpiece as he wants it to be seen!

The story begins casually enough; a brother and sister, go to visit the grave of their father in a remote graveyard in the woods. There, a strange man grabs at O'Dea and her brother rushes to her defense at which the man bites him and knocks him out. Terrified, the girl jumps in the car and speeds to a nearby farm house to get help. She goes inside, and the house appears to be deserted and the phone disconnected. She looks out the window and to her horror she sees the man trying to get inside the house!

That is just the beginning of the seminal horror movie that is Night Of The Living Dead!

From an amazon review:
"This (contender) dvd release is one of the worst i have seen... it has at least 5cuts and the transfer is a poor compared to elite's millenium edition. if you want to buy this exellent clessic film, just do not by this version! i recommend Elite Entertainment - Millennium Edition. "

I'm not sure about picture quality but I remember there being much talk of the cuts when this was released.

Night of the living dead
Dawn of the dead
day of the dead...3 of my favourite films

BTW, Dawn of the dead original on Blu-Ray is much much better quality...i was shocked anyway.

P.S HOT.

2 secs I'll check my two copies...........

Yeah my Elstree Hill Entertainment copy is 1h35m53s and this Special set is 1hr31m15s
And I noticed the film was a bit overexposed, contrast set too high on the Special edition. Both aren't that great but the Elstree hill one seems to be the better transfer. I guess I kept it for the film and the SE for the extras.
Made comparison screens using VLC (first screenshot matched up pretty well, 2nd not so much lol)

Elstree Hill (decent)

Good effort imdave. Very helpful.....although I'm going to have to give it to the Special Edition which seems much sharper (look at shelves(?) behind on left). Suppose I could tone it down a bit with the TV settings if it looks a bit over exposed.

Have some rep.

A little sharper perhaps, but the overexposure and cut running time loses points for me. To be honest I've been thinking of buying it on Blu-ray, just have to work out which of the 2 versions is best :-D

Very strange! Although that big hand does look ferocious!

Did a bit of looking around and it looks like this is the best version - but not available in UK!

1968, Elite, Special Edition, Millennium Edition

Maybe that'll come to blu-ray.

I'll probably end up buying both the Blu-rays XD

Actually Arrow Films released Dawn & Day on Blu-ray, great editions. Hopefully they will do a release.

The Optimum blu-ray has a severly cropped image even though it is still 4:3 and has decent picture quality, the Network has a poorer image but is not cropped.
