I know this is a pre-order for Monday 15th March. But mine just shipped :)

Synopsis
A group of rogue soldiers seek shelter from the zombie apocalypse on scenic Plum Island, only to become caught up in a bitter feud between two warring families. Crocket (Alan Van Sprang) and his motley crew of military abandoners are searching for a safe place to rest when they cross paths with Patrick O'Flynn (Kenneth Welsh). O'Flynn has been banished from Plum Island, where his family is locked in a long-time quarrel with the Muldoons. The O'Flynns see the flesh-eaters as subhuman, never hesitating to put a bullet between their eyes; the Muldoons balk at the prospect of killing their gut-munching loved ones, instead opting to care for their rotting kinfolk until scientists find a cure for the undead scourge. As the division between the two families grows deeper and wider, Crocket and his men realize that on Plum Island, the zombies are the least of their worries.

It may or may not be. I haven't seen it yet. But is this really the correct forum for discussing that?

Well, er, yeah it is to a degree.

You can't just judge deals purely on whether they're selling it cheapest here or there. As someone who has most of George Romero's zombie films (and not having heard about this one), I'd like to know if it's is rubbish or not before buying. Surely that's the point of having a forum?

Anyway, releasing it straight-to-DVD isn't encouraging.

Also £7.99 at Play.com

I know what you mean. Obviously I would also like it to be good.

The thing is, as a bit of a zombie fan, I have my favourite Romero films and ones I like to a lesser degree. The thing is I know I am going to buy this, I will get something from it even if just a few chuckles. Regardless of what other people think, I know I will buy it and make my own mind up. Personally I really enjoyed Diary of the Dead. Land of the dead I found a little boring and for me that was the weekest of the bunch.

So if I'm already 100% sure I'm buying this film, all I really want from this forum is where I can get it for the cheepest. Hopefully it will turn up today, and I'll watch it tonight. Can't wait :p

I posted this because I know other people will also want to buy it regardless of critical review.

Yeah it's OK, but not great. The problem is that all the new 'Dead' films are going to be judged against the first 3.

Fair enough. I'm sure it'll be more than adequate for us zombie aficionados

...and 8 quid is a good price for a new dvd.

Now if only someone would drop the (Romero) Dawn of The Dead blu-ray to £7.99

I have found a soul mate. Even if it is a weaker Romero, it will still be good if you love your zombies. I always find that the production values are higher on a Romero i.e. he always thinks of new ways to kill zombies.

I liked Land of the Dead. I love the idea that zombies are starting to learn new skills and have feelings when other zombies get killed. I hope to find some progression of that idea in this film. And if worst comes to worst then £7.99 is all it costs. Resell on ebay to get your cash back.

Agreed. That's why I am hoping for a progression of the zombie genre. BTW, my Zombieland turned up today!

I watched this last night (on the day of release - Yay!)

I'm not going to give any spoilers, but if your interested in my opinion of the movie, I would say it is not one of George's finest. It will not make many new fans of the genre. That said It is not entirely without merit. There are some great bits and some good ideas. However it is a bit of a muddle. The film doesn't really know what it is, so how on earth we are supposed to, I don't know.

One for the real Romero fans who will get some fun from this, but it would never have done well at the cinema. You do wonder why some of the characters do what they do (they just wouldn't) however at the end I was left thinking I hadn't wasted my £7.99

Have just bought it - as have to see it even if it isn't up to his usual standards. You just have to don't you?? Watched Zombieland last night which was okay - in a Shaun of the Dead kind of way - but they're too fast, they should be fast!
