Great price! I spent 25 on a small George last year. If I had the space in the kitchen, this would be somewhere at the top! Heat and rep :)

Edit: Just heat, I've repped you too much recently =P

I have one of these and they are excellent! It was a gift so cant comment on the price.

Or you could just stick your food under your grill for free. Just an idea.
#4
Far easier with these as you're cooking on a more accessable level and the gridle is fantastic for eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes etc. wipes clean very easily also so saves mess in your oven.

It does. seperate controls for the grill and griddle. It's a fair size so make sure you have room in your kitchen

Thanks Guy, the Tesco direct site said it didn't

Well the one shown in this thread (1st post) does. See the black knobs on either side.

Can anyone advise as to whether this is the version which has the removable grill-bits?

I have the smaller vresion & it's a nightmare to clean, and remember seeing one model where you can remove the grill for easy cleaning.

Thanks in advance!
#14
They don't remove that I know of. Mine is very easy to clean. I simply turn it on so it's nice and hot them wipe clean with a wet cloth. any grease just wipes straight off the non-stick surface.

Thanks edi, i'm very tempted to get one ..
#16
Thanks, I'm tempted the thermostats gone on my big george so its always too hot and the non-stick has started to come off and everything sticks to it

just put my bit in, we have one and it is great we use it all the time, fried eggs are great on the griddle, their is not alot you cant cook on it, they are quite big in length so need quite a bit of spare work top, we have had ours approx year and half and still comes up spotless every time, so would recomend it. thanks to poster

Makro used to sell these for about £30 inc VAT but that stopped last year. These are great Grills but are pretty big. In my opinion the G2 grill is the best value for money out of all the GF grills.
Nice find Edi:)

Looks like a good bit of kit, but it'd probably end up under the sink with my sandwich toaster & coffee maker ;-)

Since getting mine I've only used the oven grill for melting cheese on pasta  :-D

What's the difference between this and the G2 grill then?

This IS the G2 Grill. I'm not sure why Amazon have called it a 11761 Grill & Griddle.
The G2 is for Grill and Griddle.
I used to sell these before Makro started undercutting me. :-(

Is the base of the griddle side level? In the pic it seems to slope as much as the grill, if this is the case how do you griddle the eggs ?

It has a very slight tilt/incline so you are not 'deep frying' the food in oil.

My biggest beef with my foreman grill is that it opens up too tall. No room with the cupboard setup in my kitchen so it is a bit awkward to use.

Ahh was looking and couldn't see anything different, thanks

I bought one of these from macro and can't recommend it enough.
We go camping and this is an essential pice of kit for us. Not only can you use the griddle to fry but I use it as a hot plate to put saucepans on, great for heating baked beans etc!!
The grill also makes a mean toasted sandwich.
