these are german sourced and the ones in the news are spanish ones. must be safe

You're very brave posting this, I don't think it's the E-coli issue, it's the idea of buying cucumbers from the Bosch! What's the record cold temperature on here by the way?

this wont get that cold. anything with justin beiber, madeleine mccann and jordan will get cold.

So the krauts are saying. I trust this statement as much as all the French cows having magnesium deficiency, not mad cow disease!

Some products I don't mind being sourced from overseas but there are many that are available on our doorstep which our own farmers and businesses need supporting with through us buying from them. Plus the carbon footprint on bringing them over is another issue.

The Germans have had a nasty e-coli outbreak. It has been linked to some imported Spanish cucumbers.

Not to mention that they are also fairly easy to grow at home, if you are lucky enough to have a garden or allotment.

'sourced' from Germany means they could well be Spanish in origin

49p is a good price. Hot from me.

Cold voters probably don't have much of a grasp of European geography, international trade or food hygiene.

Would be a darn shame ironic if someone had changed their diet to live a healthier life, happened to be one of the fatal victims because they had more cucumber.

Think you mean "Boche" - unless you are referring to Driller Killer!

Do you think this is the reason why mostly women are affected by this outbreak?

The best of it is, it's the ORGANIC ones that are suspect X)

E.coli can only be sourced from animal rather than vegetable medium.
Cattle will carry the toxin in their gut without showing signs of illness, and it will be shed in the faeces.
If cattle manure is used as a fertiliser, it is possible that vegetables will be contaminated with E. coli, and if not washed properly it would be present in sufficient numbers to cause the infection. Not sure if this type of fertiliser can be classed as organic or not.
