And why not? They're not a charity, everyone needing to sell cars does so to spin a profit. Most car sales have a mark-up of around 20%, whether it be new, nearly new or a bit older. I see it all the time, was offered £18500 for my p/x (Golf GTD) towards a new Golf R in March 2015 and negotiated 12% off the R.

There and then they were selling GTDs for about £24k on their used forecourt, likely £22k sticker price in March - willing to be knocked down to £21k. Will I get more than £18500 for my GTD privately? probably not, most people buying a car around that price need finance or want the reassurance of a dealership, even if there's a fair chunk of warranty left.

These car buying organisations have their place - usually when you need to sell your car in a hurry, or when you want to buy a new car from a broker at great discount, but have a car to get shot of because the broker can't or won't arrange a p/x, or the p/x price is pretty low.

There are better places than WBAC to sell your car for a better price, doing a similar job - but they are visible and convenient for many.

They offer a good price to you online and then at the appointment offer significantly less due to being not as described (even if you were straight and honest) wouldn't sell them a go kart! COLD

and so are payday loans

and then they have the cheek to charge a high admin fee

They are awful. Keep you waiting for hours and they've got no idea what they're doing. But a handy £20 if you've got nothing else to do, so for that reason I'm adding some heat.

Apparently WBAC is owned by British Car Auctions (BCA ).

Be prepared to get mithered to death after you've been in though.
The guys at the centres have targets to hit and just bombard you with emails and calls.
