From a leaflet picked up in-store at a GAME branch...

Get £25 off *

ASSASSIN'S CREED II [Xbox 360] (Released 20 November)

* when you trade-in one of these titles:

Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 [Xbox 360]
Dragon Age Origins [Xbox 360]
Borderlands [Xbox 360]
Tekken 6 [Xbox 360]
Forza Motorsport 3 [Xbox 360]
FIFA 10 [Xbox 360]

Offer ends 26 November

--- The small print ---

£25 off is the trade-in price for Assassin's Creed 2 when WWE Smackdown VS Raw, Dragon Age Origins, Tekken 6, Forza Motorsport 3 or FIFA 10 is subtracted from the selling price of Assassin's Creed 2. All games must be in original packaging in good working order and of satisfactory quality. Trade-in offers are open to members of the public only and GAME reserves the right to refuse any offer to anyone believed to be representing a trade buyer. This offer can be withdrawn at any time without prior notice. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers in store. Online offers may vary. This does not affect your statutory rights.

--- ends ---

Note that there is no mention of "Borderlands" in the small print & "WWE Smackdown VS Raw" is not suffixed with "2010"!?!

On the reverse of the leaflet is the same deal (£25 off) against the purchase of "Left 4 Dead 2" [Xbox 360] (also Released 20 November) with the following titles taken into consideration for the trade-in:

PES 2010 [Xbox 360] (Pro Evolution Soccer 2010)
Forza Motorsport 3 [Xbox 360]
Tekken 6 [Xbox 360]
Borderlands [Xbox 360]
Dragon Age Origins [Xbox 360]
Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 [Xbox 360]

Again, the Offer ends 26 November

--- And similar small print ---

£25 off is the trade-in price for Left 4 Dead 2 when Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, Forza Motorsport 3, Tekken 6, Borderlands, Dragon Age Origins or WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2010 is subtracted from the selling price of Left 4 Dead 2.

Note that "Borderlands" is mentioned in the small print here, & so is the "2010" suffix for the "WWE..." title.

(Reserved for a scanned image of the leaflet when I return home this evening)

Within the first 2 minutes... 0 degrees... +5... -3... :)

PS. I have listed the "Left 4 Dead 2" side of the leaflet in a separate thread so positive or negative comments on that deal can be separated from this one.

Voting currently at -47 degrees. Looks like a Christmas turkey... :santa:

Not on PS3?

Edit, I thought it was £25 after the deal, not £25 off deal!

Don't think it's a particuarly good deal.

I picked up COD MW2 using the other offer today.

Sorry I read it wrong, yeah that's not a bad deal I guess, if you paid £25 for smackdown @ Tesco when it came out then your getting your money back on it.

Not a bad deal I guess, but I still think there will be better come nearer to release!

What £25 + Modern warfare 1? surely it would have been more economically viable to hound the local supermarkets for a copy? considering most people will still pay £15-20 for a copy of mw1!

Not a great deal and don’t forget ACII is published by good old UBI Soft so the price will undoubtedly plummet once the initial rush is over, I expect to pay no more than £20 for this bad boy come the new year!

£25 off what though? Knowing Game it'll be £45 and no doubt alot cheaper at a supermarket.

Nope... not mentioned on the leaflet I have, anyway.

I guess there will be a specific PS3 leaflet (that doesn't mention "Forza Motorsport 3", but substitutes a different [PS3] title instead).

Overlord 2 + Infamous + £4.99 = COD MW2(Gamestation, my apologies)

Basically the "offer" they are advertising is that they'll give you £25 for any of the titles listed. Hence they will be giving you a fixed part-exchange value as long as your pre-owned title meets their conditions of quality. However, you are then restricted to buying the newly released title at the same time.

The trick is to find one of the six titles for a cheaper price than £25 before 20 November, and you have saved some cash... but yes, the selling price in-store prior to when the "offer" ends (26 November 2009) may well (read: will) be more expensive than somewhere else.

You would need to know what price they are taking the £25 from to compare and contrast roperly

Compare & contrast the purchase price of the new title, yes.

However, you can research whether or not the part-exchange value (£25) is worthwhile or not based on the pre-owned sale value of one of the six listed titles now if you so wish.

Say, for example, you had "Tekken 6" & every time you listed it somewhere for sale a forum member jumped in with "It's £29.85 [or whatever] from ShopTo.net new/delivered, so I'll offer you £23" then you would make £2 at GAME if you were going to buy the new title ("Assassin's Creed II" or "Left 4 Dead 2") from GAME anyway (you may well have vouchers, or credit, or Reward Card points).

Between now & 20 November, the new (& hence the pre-owned) price may well fall.

GAME are offering £25 for the pre-owned title regardless.

This deal wins or loses on the price they attach to Assasins Creed 2.

You can do all the research you want, but it makes no difference until you know the price charged by Game and it's competitors.

If they are selling Assassins Creed at £44.99 while elsewhere you can get if for £29.99, then you'd be hard pushed to find this trade to be a good one in anyway shape or form.

...assuming you have £29.99 to spend on the new game. Some people may only have, say £20.

Using you figures, if I already have one of the six titles & want "Assassin's Creed II", I may well go in-store & hand them my, say, "Tekken 6", that I no longer play. I now have £25 in "credit".

The price of the new game is (as you mentioned) £44.99. I now have to find (£44.99-£25.00=) £19.99.

I have saved £10 on the new price (and yes, I have lost "Tekken 6", but that is my choice as the customer).

That "Tekken 6" may have been a bundle copy with a new Xbox 360. In which case I may not see a loss at all because I was 'forced' to have it originally.

[EDITs] to make the text reading in the first person throughout.

PS. Anybody who bought "Tekken 6" from Play.com yesterday in their "Deal of the Day" & wishes to trade-in against "Assassin's Creed II" or "Left 4 Dead 2" will now be swapping their £17.99 purchase for a £25 trade-in price.

These savings are not as great, but you can still take QuidCo cashback into consideration too...

"(WWE) Smackdown vs. Raw 2010" [Xbox 360] is presently £22.99 at GamePlay.

"Borderlands" [Xbox 360] is presently £23.99 at GAME.co.uk.
