Ok, firstly im sorry if this is in the wrong place, I suppose it could go in misc, but ive put it in deals as it seems like a good deal to me!

Basically you order a sim card for o2, top up £15, register it (one per person), and then you can either get £5 for each goal England score, or if you dont like England, £5 for each goal England concede. After the tournment is over o2 will send you a cheque!!!

Surely England will score more than 3 goals in the tournament, and if they do your on to a winner!!

"The reward shall be calculated on the basis of £5 for each goal scored by the senior men’s England football team during the football tournament in South Africa this summer (11 June 2010 to 11 July 2010) excluding goals scored during any penalty shoot outs and any own goals scored by an England player. Or, if selected, £5 for every goal England concede. Therefore, own goals in favour of England are valid for consumers who registered with ‘goal’ and own goals not in favour of England are valid for consumers who registered with ‘concede’."

No Penalties - The only goals we ever get are penalties!!!

Seems like a great deal to me but are you sure it's a cheque and not credit for the sim card? If it's credit there's way better deals out there. Especially the 300 texts and free net when topping up a tenner a month.

If you read the t&c it says payment by cheque...

is by cheque - and surely England will score more than 3 goals !!!
(given the perfomance against Japan, I could be wrong).

??? That's the one time we can't score, hence our several QF departures.

It doesn't say no penalties, it says no penalty shoot out goals, which it would be madness not to state.

If that was true we'd never score a single goal. We all know England can't take pens, as demonstrated again on Sunday! I seem to recall the only person who scored in the penalty shootout at the last world cup was a German/Canadian & he's not going this time round...

Hot deal BTW, in the group we've got I'll be pretty gutted if we don't manage at least 3 goals against those teams

I cant see where to order the special sim card, or do you just order any free sim and then register it on their site for this deal?
#9
interesting...

In the last 6 world cups they have qualified for, they have scored at least 6 goals; and always conceded less than they have scored:

Also £5 quidco for a new PAYG sim registration? (i.e top up £10)
#12
The thing is thouu, for o2 to state such a comment like this, is rather bold to say least. As we are going to score a miniumum os say 5 goals or more. So they no as a bussines they are going to be losing out. What I want to know is, if you read the T&c i post. I have scneraio in my head, that they never actually receive your claim (so you might have to send record delivery), or the cheque gets lost in the post to you.
Ideas?

Go here to get the sim card only 1 per household then you need to go back on the date it says to register the sim they send you.

Bit of a cynical post - next thing you know you'll be telling us England aren't go to win the World Cup:w00t:

I doubt it, this is just another way to dress up a small incentive to get a new person onto o2 - if we score 6 they are £15 down - they'll happily pay out if it means a chance of getting someone off a competitor.

I'm a realist you know. Thou look at from a bussines point of view., there going to be making a loss. So what the best bet but to either not ackwoledge they received it, or say it got lost in post.win win situation for them.
As regards to world cup, I hope biys do it. I just dont think we have the calibre like previous years. I hope im wrong.

this looks very interesting...

Interesting deal! Do you have to get a new O2 sim, or can you top up an existing one, does anyone know?
#22
Can you use an existing pay as you go sim?
#23

Maybe so, & if that was the case then. I would have made the user transfer there no from that network to there's. Thus making sure they was comited to them for a year(i sumize)
.
This way you can top 15 quid, hope we score 5 or 6. Thats money back plus a ten to fithteen quid. Second round. lol!

So hence why I said what i said. Do the maths as a busines if 10, 000 people take up this offer for 15quid. 150,000 revenue gernerated. Now Englans score 5 say. Thats 250,000 they haft to pay.

Can you see my point?
#27
Its a good deal but O2 in my opinion have a very poor customer services department. Took me two months to sort out a simple refund problem with them...so getting any reward back from them I feel would not be an easy or straight forward thing, it may cost you more in phone calls and wasted emails just trying to get a response from them! I may be wrong...lets hope so. I hope England score at least ten goals just to make O2 payout!...LOL...
#28
Yes you need to get the special sim cards to get this deal.
After the World cup does anyone know if you can use the sim for the other offers they have eg £5 per month for unlimited texts?
#29
does it not have to be registered by the 4th of June and it takes 4 days for them to send a sim might have read it wrong
#30
Would this be possible- Get this deal, use it for the world cup and then after use the same number for a new contract?

I think:
USA - 2-1 to England
Slovenia - 3-0
Algeria - 3.1
Then you get the second round etc. So I would say 9 is a got prediction

In the T&Cs it says registration from 4th june, and you can register up until Englands last game played, but only goals scored after you register count.

4.2 Sim registration is live from 4 June 2010 up to the final whistle of England’s last match at the summer tournament in South Africa (the Promotional Period). We can’t accept registrations outside of the Promotional Period.
#36
England could get 9 in the group stage as our group is weak. Having said that, England have struggled in the two recent games.

Great. thanks!

As the sims are free to get, and you can register up until the last minute of the USA game, you could technically get one for each person you know, and register them all if england are winning 3-0 at half time! lol

Are you sure about those results? :?

England were comprehensively outplayed against Mexico and Japan (and those two are prehaps better than England anyway)

I hope England fall at the group stage but seems unlikely as they got an easy group. They are not a team but a bunch of greedy individuals who can't play together.
