There are companies out there charging a tenner to reply to children letters to Santa. Yet you can do it for free. If children post (with stamp) a letter to Santa, Santa's Grotto, Reindeerland, SAN TA1 before 12 Dec (though preferably earlier), the Royal Mail says he'll write back

Santa is extremely busy at the North Pole, making sure all the presents, including yours, are ready and wrapped for Christmas Eve.

It’s a very exciting time for all; Rudolph and Santa can’t wait to land at your home with all your gifts. Rudolph is especially looking forward to eating the carrots you kindly leave and maybe a mince pie for Santa…

To ensure Santa receives your letter on time please can you send to the following address:

Santa/Father Christmas,
Santa’s Grotto,
Reindeerland,
SAN TA1

Santa will respond to as many letters as possible, in between getting the sleigh ready for the long journey on Christmas Eve.

In your letter please write clearly your name and address and attach either a 1st or 2nd class stamp to the envelope.

Be good and enjoy your holidays,
Santa

Isn't this something parents should really be doing for their kids... not leaving it to royal mail?

I voted Hot on the charity letter and brought one. Its just that after reading the posts i saw some people were not making a donation to get the letter. i was suggesting a way to get the letter without leaving a charity out of pocket.

My Son sent a letter with no sae and only wrote 'Father Christmas' on the envelope. I didn't expect anything back and had got a letter ready to send back to him when Royal Mail delivered a letter from Santa with a 'make your own' card that you leave out for Santa to see to show him that you made it nicely!
So for all those whinging that you have to spend 36p on a stamp.....you don't!

I've used this service from Royal Mail before and every year there's a 'do we need a stamp or not' debate on the various forums. A stamp isn't needed, just post in a box remembering to clearly put your name and address inside the envelope for the reply. You receive a lovely letter back along with extra items such as stickers and colouring pictures.

If you don't put a stamp on it, surely Santa should have to pay £1 plus the price of a first class stamp for receiving it. That's what the Royal Mail does to regular people, so why not Santa?

Because then the Chief Exec of Royal Mail wouldn't receive any pressies! he would just have to make do with the £1.2m bonus....:whistling:

Maybe so... but my little lad actually likes to know his letter's been posted - and if Royal Mail are gonna reply anyway, then what would be the point in me doing so too? Then he'll get 2 letters, get all confused, and begin to wonder about the big guy's existence. There'll be questions I'm just not ready to answer yet.

Incidentally, we just write 'Father Christmas, The North Pole' on our envelopes, and get a reply every year. We put a stamp on too - 30p isn't too much to ask for such a service I don't think. Puts a smile on my lad's face anyway.
