Exactly what it says on the tin. Was in this months Sky magazine. Seems to be a bit better than the £25 M&S voucher. What's more I hear you ask, well they'll only throw in a whole month of Sky mobile TV for you as well.

Says it's limited to first 5000 customers!

Terms and Conditions:

Introduce a Friend offer: One iPod touch gift per existing household. Only available by following the steps set out on this website and not by any other means e.g. via a retail outlet. Offer ends 24 March 2010. New customer cannot be in same household. Gift sent within 30 days of receipt of first subscription payment from new customer provided existing customer's account is active. Existing customer must remain an active subscriber to qualify. Not available in conjunction with any other offer. Offer excludes Sky group employees and agents and cannot be offered commercially.

Has she got sky installed yet? If not cancel, say you'll send the voucher back (when it comes) then ring up and book it in again. Will delay your mum getting sky but all the same cushtie for you!

I don't even receive the Sky mag any more, wonder if you have to opt in or something to receive it?

there was a letter with it that says they've changed the T&Cs and you need to sign up to 6 mixes or 21 premium (such as Movies Sports etc.). You probably have to opt in though. You're not missing much. This was the best thing in it, oh and a nice picture of Jennifer Aniston!! ;-)

just ensure that your friend gets the best deal as well, as no point in an ipod touch if they're paying too much etc.

Consider - could they get cashback, etc
#9
Does your friend need to invite you, or when you sign up, can you give their details as a referer?

no such thing as a free lunch though. I have sky, but I dont really watch it. My use of Tv catchup, iplayer, 4od on both the PC and PS3 kind of made my sky plus obsolete. Ive exhausted the discovery channels pretty much, if I wanted music videos then I would find them online, sky and bbc news are both freeview anyway, and Ive seen all the only fools and horses episodes 10 times over lol. But they are trying to keep us happy by giving us Sky broadband unlimited at no charge. Once freeview, Freesat and media center PC setups become mainstream skys days will be numbered unless they can get some revolutionary on demand high speed interent service out.

I wouldnt reccomend a friend to sky, does anyone know the full terms surrounding the early leaving fee? I dont see how they can force you to pay them if you dont want their services any longer.

You would have to pay the remainder of the 12 month contract if you cancel early as that is the minimum term.
#12
Where exactly is the offer as the link does not take you there.
#13
I wouldn't recommend anyone to sky, biggest load of c**p in the world. We have had nothing but problems.
#14
OK, found, you have to sign in to sky and then go through recommend a friend.
#15
i agree, we cancelled our sky as we didnt use it, the only good thing was sky plus, but we got ourselves playtv for the ps3, saves us £30 a month!
#16
hmmm, at first glance, "voted hot !"

But when you compare it to what your friend could get, if they sign up for Sky themselves, and use QuidCo, this deal seems a bit bland:

Sky Cashback rates through QuidCo (25/2/2010):
£5 for a Sky Talk Freetime Upgrade
£5 for a Sky Talk Unlimited Upgrade
£25 for Broadband Mid (everyday) (new customers)
£50 for a Broadband Max (unlimited) (new customers)
£100 for Sky+HD & HD Pack
£2 0for Sky+HD Box Starter Pack

So, it's a choice between having an iPod for you, or a wad of cash for your friend. And your friend is the one who has to cope with Sky's monthly charges and poor customer service.

Yup, i think I'll vote "bland" on this one.

Sent friend an e-mail and when they try to order on-line they need to phone instead. Sky have done this every time I recommend someone. They will not let you complete on-line.

Saint alert everyone, Saint alert.

Is that you Jesus?

You get a £50 M&S voucher, not £25 for referring.

FYI, Virgin give you £30 on your next bill.

get a freesat box, So glad we did, far less problematic than the dicks @ sky, ..well fancy that a year + of freesat (2 units) & no problems, whereas if it was sky we'd have had 4 x repaired boxes ..again

Sky, never again!
Not to mention marketing calls, help lines that offer no help or don't answer, their trashy mag that you couldn't stop receiving,... don't open a can-o-worms by subscribing.

Jesus, I feel like I'm being watched now.

Noooooooooooooo,

It's an 8GB Touch (2nd gen).

Slower CPU, Weaker GPU & half the amount of RAM compared to the newer 32/64GB (3rd Gen) models.
#28
Sky are dodgy with their "free gifts", Out of everyone I know with sky+, only half of them got their vouchers, nevermind an ipod!

You clearly can't be a big watcher of sport in HD to make such a comment. That is still the ace that they hold as far as I'm concerned, and will continue to hold for as long as they choose not to share it with Virgin or anyone else.

I've seen offers for free Sky HD boxes and free installation so it makes this a little.. expensive.

He died, if he existed. If you deny that then you deny that he died for our sins.

It's not slower/weaker because a new model came out, it still works. The 3rd Gen offers little benefit, and who cares when this is free?

Totally agree that the Sports coverage on Sky is second to none, at least in the UK. When watching on other channels it just isnt as good. The HD quality and soon to be 3D broadcasts of sporting events will be what keep customers coming back to Sky.

True, they do seem to have it sussed when it comes to sports coverage, but I hardly watch any sport really, I do watch some big events like the world cup, olympics, WRC or tour de france, none of which do you need sky sports to view. Im sure sooner or later there will be easier ways of getting sky sports for free. Im sure it wouldnt be that hard for some dodgey setup to capture and stream sky sports online. Also in many cable areas, alot of people/pubs have pirate boxes. I do think Sky will find it hard to compete in the next 10 years or so. Hence the desperate measures of promoting 3D TV. Which sooner or later will be available for free via another system anyway. We will see. But for now, if you truly want to see endless amounts of football (why anyone supports these foreign owned teams, foreign managed and with foreign players is beyond me, and all the idiotic trashy personalities and culture that come with it) then get sky.
#38
great spotting and i had the chance to get two of these today, but since im not a sky customer i cant refer people - stink! oh well, passed the deal and my signups on to a mate to get the ipods - thanks!
