does this work if you pay with a Virgin Atlantic MBNA Amex card?

does this work if you pay with a Virgin Atlantic MBNA Amex card?

Similar question - more broadly - Does this include tertiary branded cards supplied by MBNA like Virgin?
#12
Wouldn't advise this - either you have to pay recorded delivery (£4.50 wipes out most of the gain) or risk the courier pocketing your vouchers with no comeback.

How are the vouchers posted?
Vouchers are posted via first class postage. Please note that these vouchers are not guaranteed for delivery, you do have the option to receive the vouchers via recorded delivery for an additional fee.

It doesn't seem right

It was a good deal right until that point. Maybe if we dont recieve the vouchers, we could get the credit card company to reimburse us lol :p

Its not - but even with recorded delivery the cinema vouchers are almost half price if you buy the max amount! Strangely- - even though it says max 5 pairs you can add more once youve added 5 pairs.

Just off to top up as only got 2 left! :)

Sorry but credit card incentives that encourage people to spend money they don't have are stone cold for me
#18
I think the OP is quite misleading. Maybe you should make it clear in the title that you need the card

Sorry but credit card incentives that encourage people to spend money they don't have are stone cold for me

Thats a very narrow minded way of looking at it and maybe you dont have any money to spend so this may not be for you - granted , but consider this ..

1. i have money
2. i want to go to the cinema with my family
3. i want to get a discount on cinema tickets as i own a mbna credit card

Result , no ??????????????

Does your comment apply to any deal or promotion offered by any shop then or is it just a credit card company offering you a deal that you have a problem with ? .... Seems odd that you actually look at this site as there are tons of bargains to be had that encourage you to spend money on things that you may not actually need just because they are a bargain !! It aint the promoters fault if you spend money that you havent got, its your own - people need to take responsibility of their actions and not blame others for 'encouraging' them ..... thats just lame !!

lol very interesting,

so everyone using credit card is poort and have no money?

NO!!! I use credit card and I have a job and I clear my credit card at the end of every month.!!!!!
I get 1% cash back from AmeX... its not a lot, but why should I no use it? If I pay by debit card! I get nothing back at alllll!!!!!! plus I can build my credit rating!!!

Ohh and dont even let me start about the security you get by paying shopping online with credit card!!!!! and their fraud protection....

Surely every deal on here is encouraging people to spend money that they don't have? And most of them can be paid for by Credit Card. How is this different? As usual, HUKD members should only take part in this deal IF THEY ACTUALLY HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR IT ;-)

Credit card incentives are a great way to save money if you play the system well, there's nothing here saying that you must be heavily in debt in order to partake in this offer.

For those who can't read or just don't want to read. My post clearly said CREDIT CARD INCENTIVES and NOT all deals on this site - hope that's clear for those can't read.

And, as for people spending money they don't have it's happening right now and there will be some people on this site who fall into that category. So, if you are a sensible and responsible borrower then have some social responsibility and raise concerns and cautions to those people who are not.

Instead of overtly defending your financial position write something of interest.

Firstly I'll just state that I work for MBNA just so there will be no accusations of me hiding anything :)

Anyhoo don't just go for a Sony card as the OP says. There are a lot of other MBNA cards out there as well which may offer things which are more of a benefit to yourselves :)http://mbna.co.uk/creditcards/directory.html . I won't vote hot on this deal as I think there's a bit of a conflict of interest there but for the record it does seem a good deal although I didn't actually know about this so thanks to the OP for that!

Frankly I'd rather get one of the charity cards like the National Trust, Breakthrough Breastcancer or Dogs Trust Cards which all give you the same rates but rather than getting a fairly useless amount of points for using your card which you'll only be able to spend on Sony stuff it'll go to a charity who could really use the money :) Even better are the Virgin cards which offer much slightly worse rates and but better interest free periods on your balance transfers.

Sorry but credit card incentives that encourage people to spend money they don't have are stone cold for me

I'm sorry but if someone is silly enough to spend money they don't have just because of an incentive scheme then I think they deserve what's coming to them. I know I said about that I work for a bank so everyone is going to think this is very predictable but people need to take responsibility for their finance. There are far too many people out there who thought that they could buy a big house and have 2 nice cars in the driveway and a plasma on the wall without considering the financial risk that this was putting them under. Sure credit card companies and banks did play a part in it by being willing to lend so much but at the end of the day it's your decision to spend the money. My wife had a 11k limit on her MBNA card and never went over about 2 grand because that was all she felt was responsible and she actually called them up to lower the credit limit as she didn't want all that credit. Credit card companies can only credit check you and see if you have the means to pay back your card based on the information on your credit file, they don't know if you're going to be made redundant in a few years or if you're going to get divorced or have some other major event happen in your life, it's up to you to look towards the future and see whether you're doing the responsible thing with taking out large amounts of credit.

You're exactly the customer credit card companies probably hate the most :p Your way of doing things is certainly the most sensible way of using a credit card and rather than paying for the privelige you're actually getting something out of it. Good for you and although it means less profits for the company I work for I wish more people would be like this and we wouldn't have had this silly credit crunch

I should have mentioned that there are other MBNA card, sorry about that. I only know of SonyCard as I am using it to get points for my Sony purchases seeing I have a PS3.

Apologies, but suffering Friday night brain death syndrome. I can't find where to get the vouchers for cinema even though used Search and patiently gone through categories. Any help please?
#29
I have been using this to buy vouchers for the cinema for about 12 months, as soon as i get the bill i pay it, i have saved a fortune and when you work it out its cheaper than getting an unlimited card from the cinema, if you go twice a week. I have also bought vouchers for comet, hmv etc and all vouchers have arrived, even tho i never paid the £4.50 delivery. And the virgin credit card can be used to join, virgins voucher site. If you buy these vouchers for petrol, you would save £5.00 on every £100, not much, but something that needs to be bought. £4.00 off at Asda petrol.
