Here is a good deal to get a LOT more money on a trade in for your stuff (especially ps2, xbox games, but any). You can also buy games off the net and get DOUBLE your money trading them in as used !!!

Gamestation say they will not be beaten on trade-ins, they will price-match +£1.00
CEX offer very high trade in prices but sell used stuff at very high prices.
Go to the CEX website and fill the sell basket with all your stuff.
Go to view basket and print off the basket.
Take it to gamestation.
Rejoice in the glory of silly prices for old rubbish games

Examples of trade in prices using this method -

Call of duty 4 (360) £29.00
World ends with you (DS) - £22.00 (£15.00 new @Asda)
Boogie (DS) - £11.00 (£6.00 new @ thegamecollection)
Half Life 2 - Orange Box £17.00 (£10.00 new @ Asda)

I could tell you hundreds but wheres the fun in that, one thing is certain though, if you use this method you WILL save a fortune

Hope this is helpful as I say, I used it to sell 65 PS2 games, GAME offered £160.00 trade-in, using this method I got £375.00 (although I added a 360 wireless dongle which game had offered £14.00 for, got £37.00 for it from gamestation).

In a nutshell, yes.

This is all well and good, and I have used this myself to get good trade in prices, however buying on the net and then taking in titles is a bit like a stocks and shares gamble, you post here saying you get £19 for Orange Box, well CEX only offer £16 exchange now, so £17 at Gamestation, as you say its a great way to increase your trade ins, but it isnt without risk, and also its not a deal, this has been posted many times before about Gamestation price beating trade ins and as such it should be in Misc.

£17 for orange box is still £7.00 profit, if you find the games cheap enough doesnt matter if they drop a little. Mainly its a post about getting the most for large numbers of PS2/xbox games. I think a lot of people dont know about using CEX as a trade-in comparison and of course this is a deal ! get an extra pound for your trade-ins, thats the deal.

I know that, just using that as an example of the "stocks and shares" basis of this gamble. I just don't feel its a deal and best posted in Misc, like every other time this has been posted. Like PC World doing a 110% price beat isnt a deal. Or Concert ticket presales aren't deals, yet people still post them.

This is a very handy "tip", and should be in misc in my opinion, its a gamble but effectively if you select the right games and can double your money, effectively you could spend £60-70 and walk away with a brand new Xbox 360 Arcade.

this is giving us a 'heads up' but its not a deal.
#8
I agree - most people here are aware of this. Ive been doing this for around 2 years now. In fact most game deals posts you always get one person saying "you can get xxx quid for this at CEX" then someone else saying "well, gamestation will give you £1 more than that"...

They also price match on buying things too. Only local stores though I believe. Take in an argos catalog and they will match their prices for example.
#9
This sounds good I wonder if they will take my wii fit as it is just gathering dust !! bought it on impulse and havent used it for months..
#10
Have done this recently with the pc world games and managed to get a 360 console for an outlay of £50
that said they won't always price match against internet print outs and will sometimes refuse the trade unless you have a till print out from your local cex

i too did this with pc world games got

2 x used psps for mates, 1 brand new ps3 80gb and 2 x wii fits for a £150 outlay
#12
I use CEX to off load a load of rubbish that I can not ebay.

One thing to watch is if the price is stupid, Gamestation wont match it, due to the small T&C they hold.

I now have a load of GS credit, but the prices are still abit stupid compared to online.
#13
A shame. My local gamestation used to match (and beat) CEX on cash trade but my local CEX stopped giving out cash in their stores so gamestation uses that as an excuse to only give credit, now. Damn all those console fanboys!

I was wondering if someone would be able to help me

I've got the following and i was wondering if someone could tell me how much the whole lot is worth

Ps2 - Gran Turismo 4 Edition

with box, instructions and of course the game

plus games

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Fifa 06
Fifa 07
Sonic Mega Collection
Monopoly Party
Casino Challenge
Wolrd Championship Poker
Perfect Ace 2
Dancing Stage Fusion (with dance mat)

and i've also got a DVD/PLAYSTATION remote control too (but no packaging for that)

I'm after getting a x-box 360 with fifa 09 over the weekend so your help would contribute to a sleepness weekend this weekend.

I've tried myself but i just can't get my head round it all

Thanks in advance.

Just go to here and search and add it all to the basket

http://www.cex.co.uk/sell/ Its not rocket science !

You get £33.00 at CEX for the PS2 Boxed so £34.00
Tony hawks 3 youll get £1.40 @CEX so £2.40 @ gamestation
etc etc

DVD remote is £1.60 @CEX so £2.60 at gamesstation http://www.cex.co.uk/search/index.php?postback=1&mode=sell&stext=playstation+2+dvd§ion=all

Iit wouldn't hurt to ask them, or check CEX to see if they have the limited edition, you get £45 exchange for a boxed silver slimline. Tell you what, do you want someone to take the games in for you and check everything for you on the internet ?
#21
lol

Sorry - just new to this.

I've managed to price everything up and should get £80-£85 which isn't that bad.

With the x-box 360, do you need some kind of adaptor to make it work on a wireless set up at home or is it just plug and play?

Sorry for all the questions....

Sadly the achilles heel of the otherwise brilliant 360 is its lack of inbuilt wireless. It does have a LAN port for connecting wired to a router, but for wireless you either have to plump up the cash for the overpriced wireless USB addon, or have the knowledge to wire up a wireless bridge to the LAN port, which is cheaper, but is not plug and play so you would need some knowledge of network bridging.

The lack of inbuilt wireless applies to all models of the 360 currently.
#23
if youve got a wireless router you can just stick it in that via cable and itll sort itself out, gamestation are doing a 360 with a free wireless adaptor instore, good deal because the adapters are a rip of
#24
I believe Gamestation also price match places like tesco when you BUY games off them new - so Im getting them to pricematch fifa tomorrow as have lots ot vouchers I have yet to use :)
#25
not sure on that mine wont touch supermarkets or argos for price matches
#26
Well, Im going to give it a go tomorrow :)
#27
There is a really good deal on Xbox 360 consoles, fifa and an extra pad tomorrow at Gamestation. in terms of Fifa pricing the cheapest around so far is Tesco at 29.97, Asda at 32, Blockies at 34.99. I suspect Zavvi will go 35, HMV 40.
#28
Don't you need a CEX store nearby in order for Gamestation to match?

Your local Gamestation isn't in Coventry is it, by any chance?
#30
A word of warning to people going out and grabbing loads of games to trade at Cex, They monitor prices and deals on this site now so you might lose out. After last weeks sting with the Pc world/currys deals no chances are being taken.
Good luck with the Gamestation deal, Cex won't print out a price list for comparison either.
#31
Not sure why this has suddenly been made hot over a day after I expired it !
#32
dont you need a gamestation within 10 miles of the cex or somthing

I will gladly but it off u if u are willing to sell it mate. Mail me back:thumbsup:

I did this last Saturday, and it's amazingly good :)

Traded in a Gamecube boxed with about 15 or more games (can't remember how many), a DS game and 2 PSOne games and got £103 trade in matched to CEX, plus £24, £1 per trade in, making it £127.

Then straight away got an XBox 360 Arcade with Too Human for free, plus got the 4 games for £20 offer and ended up with 5 games (plus the Arcade Disc) for £22, lovely jubley :)

My local GS - at the Merry Hill Centre - also only price match on CEX exchange value, not cash :x. But on a brighter note, they have always been happy to check the CEX prices on their computer out the back, so it might be worth asking at your local GS if you cant get a CEX print-off.

No, it's the one in Brum.
#37
Holy ****, thank you SOOOOOO MUCH!

Anyone know if Wolverhampton store in Wulfrun Centre does this? (new to area)
#38
I was told over phone today that they only beat cash price not exchange. Can anyone say different?

Anyone know if the Southampton one offers cash or credit?

They definitely match exchange but not always cash, so they got it the wrong way round. It is even printed at the bottom of my ps3 receipt 'Will will beat CEX on trade-ins by £1.00' so it even mentions them by name !

Mines the one in Manchester so cant vouch for needing a CEX nearby or not as we do have one.
