Black and White camera

They're out fo stock now, but:

I brought 7 of these when they were £50 - so i've brought seven more at £25 and will take the original ones back. These cameras are ok for the money - pan & tilt, bit plastiky, but do the job nicely. I think i'm right in saying that black & white is the preferred standard for night viewing, as it's better quality than colour - better contrast, presumably.

Thats a bit unfair mate, you was obviously happy enough having paid £50 for them, now you return those to get some at £25 or less instead, which means Tesco are making a loss on perfectly good products just so as you can get them cheaper, this means others are missing out at least you could return the new ones rather than the used ones as this will save having to uninstall the old ones and install the new ones and then Tesco can sell the ones you have returned giving others a chance.

Who is it ends up feeling the pinch when someone causes a loss in shops? Us the innocent customer, what you propose to do is tantamount to fraud.

Dont talk rubbish!

Which bits rubbish then?

~If he is returning the ones he bought first, he will be claiming they are faulty which would be obtaining money by deception.

If you are going to come out with comments like that at least have the decency to back it up.

*tries to think of a possibly application for 7 of these*
Please tell me you managed to interface them with something else and didn't have 7 seperate controllers? :?
I've always found with CCTV you tend to get what you pay for

I could possibly use 4 max:-D front, back and side of house, plus the blind spot between the shed and a private roadway that runs along the bottom of our garden where the teeny boppers hide from the police and council installed cctv so they can drink and smoke jamaican woodbines:whistling: they dont actually cause any trouble but its funny watching them trying to stand and find their way out after being sat drinking and smoking for a couple of hours cos it is virtually pitch black, and full of potholes!:w00t:

I'll stick with my two discreet vigilanterns for now.

I'll take them back on their 28 day return policy, they are eligible, so I wont have to claim anything at all.

I'll plug them into a pc recording card which can handle 8 inputs - the only annoying thing is working how how to do the pan and tilt controller as 7 of these will be a bit cumbersome, was thinking of mounting them all onto a board, perhaps.

I will need all 7 - it's a big house + balcony + possibly the garage...

I've saved £175 from doing the return thing - is anyone out there SERIOUSLY telling me they wouldn't do the same? Even harlzter?

(and who could actually claim SEVEN cameras were all faulty in the first place?)

In which case I apologise, I wasnt aware of any 28 day policy they have, is there anything about it on their website? In this case if its policy then yes I would do it, as I have done at Argos, loopholes are there to be exploited:whistling:

I have to confess to exploiting Tesco loopholes with the sim card delivery, recliner cushions reduced to £1 from supposedly £4 (acualy £35) so in conjunction with the £5 off £20 code I ordered 4 plus a sim for free delivery at £4.87 so £4 + £4.87 = £8.87 - £5 voucher is £3.87 then take sim for refund means I get £4.87 refund on a total spend of £3.87! I feel a bit cheeky though asking for a refund on the sim so may just swallow that cost, it still worked out hell of a lot cheaper than paying delivery!

Is the control seperate to the video lead? Is there no way of cutting the controller lead and rigging a switching system so one controller can control all cameras selected by switches?

It's one loooong lead, which goes into the control 'box', when another comes out the box to a scart. It's no problem to get a scart to phono connector (which is what 99% of pc recording cards use), it's just i'll be left with 7x controls. The fact it each controlc an support 3x cameras is useless as you have to switch between them - when i obviously want all 7 recording at the same time.

I think bascially, the cameras use non-standard pan & tilt commands, but output a standard composite signal, so i'll just have to mount the controls on a board - which isnt too bad as they'll be in a bedroom somewhere...

That is, if I can be bothered to mount them all at all!

I asked when i picked up the first lot and the woman said there was a 28 day return on these items (some are excluded - like argos), I looked on the back on the invoice and that mentioned it, too.
