I've said it before I'll say it again, Microsoft are never getting my credit card details again, not even deals like this will tempt me. I had a lot of trouble cancelling my subscription on the original live service, so I now play it safe with the points and months cards.

Im not an Xbox user but a few friends are.

From what ive heard, its impossible to get yourself off the auto renewal system or something. You have to go through their support channels which are tedious.
#6
haha they follow the best customer retention policy, don't have a cancellations department

one i got a 360 on day of release i remember straight away saying ill never use a credit card to buy points/subscriptions. so glad i never have lol

I can't believe people still fall for the xbox live subscription thing. You go out and buy a game but then have to pay to play it online, with your own internet connection - which is already paid for.

What's that all about? One of the many reasons why I chose the PS3 over the xbox.

Not really relevant to this discussion, is it.
#11
I thought it was actually, the discussion is the price of xbox live is it not?..

If you want to discuss the fact that everything from online play to chat parties is better supported on the paid Xbox service than on the flawed, free PS3 service, then go ahead fanboy. Otherwise, you're just trolling.

No.

Xbox live is £25 a year.

50p a week for a MUCH BETTER service is good enough for me.

Not online.

In places like Morrisons and Sainsburys they do it really cheap now.

Online it's about £27 on certain websites.

Strange.
There's no deals I can find on HUKD at Morrisons for XBOX live, and the one for Sainsbury's is £30. :?

Actually its less simples.

I had bought an xbox 1 year subscription and let it renew twice, then as I was getting a 360 I decided to cancel then set up a fresh account when I bought it. I phoned, only way possible at the time to cancel a subscription, one month before it renewed for a 3rd time. Only to be told that I needed the last four digits of the credit card used, 3 years before. This card was long gone so I didn't know the number, but they were going to take the £40 out of my account at the end of the month (they must have phoned the credit card company and got the details of the new card).
I needed the 4 digit number to cancel and/or to migrate to the 360, so I was basically stuck in an endless loop paying £40 per year. I did eventually get it cancelled after 3 calls over 3 days, I think they were blocking my number .

While I admit I probably should have been more careful in keeping note of the credit card details, my experience explains why I use prepaid exclusively, I probably would have bought a PS3 instead if prepaid wasn't an option.

Same here, at the time i wasn't old enough to own a credit card so my dad let me use his and i would deposit his account with the money when it was due for renewal i haven't had my xbox now for seven years now and they still take out £40 around the 26th of june and we have to get the bank to reclaim it as the CS just don't care.

Thanks, although it's an expired deal for £25.99 with one person saying they got it for £24.99, with more people saying it's £34.99 in there Morrisons.

You really think it would be difficult for the call centre to block a returning number, and hope I just gave up?

Did I say any of that? No i didn't so don't be calling me a 'fanboy', I chose the ps3 because it requires no cost to play online.

Jackass.

Yes, for a major company like Microsoft, over £40. I doubt it they would... I would actually go to the point of suggesting you may be telling porkies...
#27
Why do people even buy XBL on the dashboard with a credit card.

Isn't the golden rule of finding a good deal to not buy from the manafacturer.
#28
ive had a lot of accounts and never any problems

you just phone MS XBOX live support give them your account details and ask to remove auto renewal...2 minute call (if not put on hold)

If they refuse, just tell the bank to stop paying any DD's to MS
