Isn't a Nokia warranty 2 years? So surely you just need to know when you bought it and Nokia will obviously fix it for free? Is this really a deal as you can post a similar deal for every product you ever bought!?

Nokia is 2-years, but most people assume its just a year.

pretty much.

not a deal, just someone not know what a warranty is...

company i work for give 10-20 year no-quibble guarantees.

a lot of electronics these days (the decent stuff anyway) is at least 3 year warranty.

Yeah, well for me anyway! I bought my 5800 second hand so the guy could have bought it when it came out, or after a few months...

I think you could have explained this better in the first post! I was thinking how stupid this post was....

Its a warranty checker! And you put in the serial number to check what length of warranty is left! Pretty handy, worth checking out before you buy a phone on ebay...

Who would want a nokia these days anyway! :P

Not really a deal then, should be in misc maybe?

does anyone have experience with a warranty claim without a receipt?

Nokia have their own records, a reciept is only needed if you are returning it to the outlet you brought it from I think

If it's in warranty and you don't want to visit a Nokia care point just fill in the form at link below and post off.

Usually about a 3-5 day turnaround I've found. (Note: they won't repair if you've changed the product code to install non operator firmware)

Phone will also come back fully refurbished

Products have to be fit for purpose by law anyway.

If they break due to manufacturing faults within a reasonable amount of time, they have to be repaired regardless of the warranty.

cool

Cheers for that, can finally get my nokia 5800 fixed with its dodgy screen.

I hear this BS all the time but whos going to listen to you?? nokia will just say 2 years now f off!! have you actually tried to claim after 2 years or 1 year. Apple clearly request payment on their site after warranty has expired (1 year).

and i'd happily argue with apple

http://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/consumers/protection_of_consumers/l32022_en.htm

quote "The seller is liable to the consumer for any lack of conformity which exists when the goods are delivered to the consumer and which becomes apparent within a period of two years unless, at the moment of conclusion of the contract of sale, the consumer knew or could not reasonably be unaware of the lack of conformity."

unless of course you know that apple only sells crap stuff anyway :)
