If you go via nectar (which won't load for me), you should get 1% worth of nectar points at amazon.

is there anyone who can say anything about this review at play?

``I bought this to take advantage of our 'N' router signal. The laptop is less than 30m away from router and the signal is not even at 'full bars' with this dongle. The internal 'G' adapter in our laptop shows 'full bars' and is so much quicker. When using speedtest.net website the 'G' adapter is faster which should not be when compared to 'N' router specifications. Driver off the CD are required for VISTA OS.``

I wasn't sure if this would be ok with my router (AVOIDED wireless for ages with the BT Adapter/1st edition Home Hub I had, as they kept disconnecting and dying with me. Went through four of them). So, good old ancient ethernet since.

Couldn't bear trying it again when I went with Talktalk, but I'll give it a go now I have a netbook as well as my desktop. And now I've waited I've saved 9p! Woo-hoo :-D Hot and rep for the extra 9 pence hehe!

There's a poor review on Play - apparently their Wireless G connection is better. Not sure whether to get this or not.

On the other sites I looked at (googled the model number) it got OK reviews, so I thought I'd gamble it.

Reviews:

http://www.dabs.com/products/best-value-wireless-802-11n-usb-adaptor-300mbps-69F7.html (Click Customer Reviews on the left)

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Network+Products/Wireless/Adapter+-+USB/GetNet+GN-621U+Wireless+Network+300mbps+MIMO+USB+Adapter+?productId=39257&rqcType=r#rqc

And of course, on Amazon, they seem generally happy with it.

One quote is this: "if you want it to work with windows 7 you have to have your computer already connected to the internet so windows 7 can search and install the drivers. I first tried the supplied software but windows 7 did not recognise any of the drivers, the same happened with the software downloaded from their site (which contained no info on the simple solution) so I had to take the computer to the router (in another room), hard wire it and let windows 7 do its magic and effortlessly install the drivers. Oh the irony that you need a hard wire to install this wireless device. Anyway, hope this helps if you plan to buy this and use windows 7 as I saw a few posts around the net from people that could not get this working with 7."

Wont connect above 54mbps - on windows xp.
Although connection looks to be stable at the moment, it is now down to 48mbps.
Emailed support now awaiting response.

booooo!!!

Got mine today, and although the Talktalk guy was rude when I asked him about the line quality (Pingtest.net), all set up. Wooohooo!

Which router do you have ?

It needs to be in N mode and 20mhz to achieve 150mbps and 40Mhz to achieve 300Mbps (and wpa*) (wep not supported in channel bonding mode)

Doubt it's an OS issue, it's the router.

Using mine with an XP netbook and my trusty Vista desktop and I doubt the EchoLife HG520s (2 1/2 years old, Talktalk) is an N router. Ponders buying one..Any recommendations (with idiot-proof instructions? I think I'll burst into flames with frustration if I have to deal with Talktalk CS again..mind you, they may not help as it isn't "their" router)?

Re the wireless router, I have an EchoLife HG520s and looking around at the N routers. On Talktalk Pro 12MB, hardly blistering but OK. This one http://www.bigoffers.co.uk/product.php?product=BELKIN-01568&cat=6&sub=&cat_title=Hardware&prod_title=Belkin+300Mbps+Wireless+N+Cable+Router+-+F5D8233... Belkin 300Mbps Wireless N Cable Router - F5D8233UK4, doesn't have a modem but think I'll give it a gamble.

Comments here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/687495/belkin-300mbps-wireless-n-cable-rou Ah, the blurb on Amazon says:

Belkin designed the Wireless N Modem Router to be as simple to use as possible. Simply connect your wireless router to your cable modem, plug the router in, and connect your computer to the router. That's it. To help monitor your network performance and usage, the router includes Personal Network Assistant software, which runs on Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X 10.4/10.5.

This router also comes with Easy Setup Assistant and troubleshooting with Network Status Display. This Network Status Display shows the status of your network. The icons represent each component of your network and show you whether or not each device is working properly.

The Belkin N Wireless router is backed by a 1-year warranty and includes free 24/7 technical support.

Oh, wait, someone is mentioning it's cable, so I can't use it. Any recommendations? Think I may phone the dreaded Customer Service and ask if I can get an N router from them.
