The television series based on Masamune Shirow's Manga and Mamoru Oshii's highly influental film, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex takes viewers to futuristic society where technology has saturated citizens' daily lives. Along with the new technology comes new types of crime that exploits it, but female cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi and her team of police, Section 9, devote their lives to chasing criminals, both on land and in cyberspace.

An incredible roster of creative staff have been assembled for this project. I saw this on my Find-DVD email yesterday. I couldn't be bothered to post it at the time since anime deals are either voted cold or ignored on here. :p

It's a VERY attractive price for a 26 episode, 7 DVD set of one of the most popular anime series out there. My reason for not ordering is because Mangle Entertainment stuff is usually cheap for a reason - They mangle the subs.

This is very good price, it cost me a LOT more when I bought it last year, definitely hot

Have you watched it with the subs? I've read Mangle Ent. mistimed the subs.

They're showing this on Anime Central (199 Sky FTV after 9pm), if anyone wants a taster.

Looks good will vote hot :)
And you should be able to get an extra 10% (£2) if your a student or have a virgin card I think.

You will need to get the 2nd gig & the solid state society movies 2 :)
#16
Cheers, bought!

Couldnt work out how to get student discount tho, and no quidco :(

There's a second series, GitS:SAC 2nd Gig. Good price, though it's only an average series IMHO. Want to watch something good, go find Tenga Toppa Guerren Lagann. Just finished on TV in Japan and it's the best thing I've seen in years..

Just got someone else to confirm the subs are indeed terrible, sometimes something like 3 seconds behind what's being said.

It's a shame Mangle Ent. are so ****...the stuff they sell is cheap for a reason.

This set does look nice:

Last I heard the subs were fixed for the slim pack boxset (this one). The double disk individual volume DVDs you could buy had the problem but it was only on the first volume :)

Damn it, I've been collecting the seperate DVD's for around £4. Granted, those DVD's are two discs, two different versions of each episode...but the whole series for that price?!

Damn it :0

Nah, various volumes had the problem and Mangle just chuckedthem in this set without fixing it. I asked on an anime forum to check.

Random anime person
The subs are pretty diabolical, if at all possible try to get hold of the US version because apparently the subs are fixed there. Can't remember who told me that but it was someone on these forums.....one of the regulars, hmm.

Anyways they're dodgy for the first couple of episodes, fix themselves for a while and then revert back to a horrible 3 odd second delay by the end. If you really want the series/havent got a multi-region dvd player then by all means get it, it tarnishes the experience but its by no means unwatchable - you can simply watch the dub on particularly bad episodes anyway. It was just a bit of an annoyance for a perfectionists like myself :p
