Was it not due to be multi-platform? I thought it was on pre-order for Xbox as well...

Yesterday, Ghostbusters was being published by Atari, and was due to be released across PS3, 360, PS2, Wii and DS. Today, in a strange move, that's no longer the case.

Sony have swooped in late and signed a new publishing deal, whereby the PS3 and PS2 versions of the game will be released in PAL territories (ie Europe and Australasia) not by Atari, but by Sony Computer Entertainment. Those versions will be released on June 19, the same day that the film's due out on Blu-Ray.

But what about the other versions? They'll be coming, but later in the year, as Sony's takeover means the game will be a timed exclusive to the PlayStation home consoles.

As for what this means for customers outside PAL territories...hopefully Sony and/or Atari will have something to say about that later today.

I thought it was just a timed exclusive and atari were still publishing it for the 360, wii etc

considering they've been working on the wii version (a lot different to the ps3/360 verisons) i'd be surprised if atari threw away the chance

doesn't bother me as i've got a ps3 lol.

ohhhhhh i really hope this game turns out to be good

Will see reviews before pre-ordering this game as I've got a feeling it's not going to be good.

If it is good I'll get the NTSC version on Xbox 360 providing it gets released at same time!

The game trailers look amazing on the Xbox360

I've got the original game on the Commodore 64, with digitized speech, and it still works!
I loved that game and is one of the few games i ever sat through from start to finish.

First time I finished the game it took you back to the beginning to start again. It was such an anti-climax after spending 4 hours catching ghosts and driving around the grid to a new location that flashed!
How cool!

haha wow sony are desperate.

They lose exclusives like assassins creed and final fantasy 13, they really think getting an already well delayed game and making it a time exclsuive is gonna cut it. :?

Yeah a real sign of desperation, what do you call paying $50m for some dlc... some might think that maybe Sony had something to do with the delay, odd the release of the game coincides with the 25th anniversary of the film (which sony own).... Coincidence i guess... Still it is interesting to see the reaction to this news compared to when its MS :whistling:

Ordered from lovefilm in the end....

360 fanboys etc should not be suprised, Sony OWNS the right to the movies, so it's only natural/reasonable for them to want to control the release/rights of the games, that's the advantage of being an electronics/games/mvoies company.

50m for a DLC is more desperate me thinks. (& I own all 3 consoles btw)

First review up on metacritic:

Ghostbusters: The Videogame is possibly one of the best adaptations ever done of a film to a videogame. Its secret is a very detailed ambience, but the best thing is that it not only plays with our nostalgia, it also has great playability. The absence of Rick Moranis is the only thing that prevents the game from being perfect, but if you love the films this is what you've always dreamed of.

Cant wait for this...
