"Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the script, but Bill Murray gets all the best lines and moments in this 1984 comedy directed by Ivan Reitman (Meatballs). The three comics, plus Ernie Hudson, play the New York City-based team that provides supernatural pest control, and Sigourney Weaver is the love interest possessed by an ancient demon. Reitman and company are full of original ideas about hobgoblins--who knew they could "slime" people with green plasma goo?--but hovering above the plot is Murray's patented ironic view of all the action. Still a lot of fun, and an obvious model for sci-fi comedies such as Men in Black. --Tom Keogh,"

I had this on rental once and it's not not great.

Bad Transfer according to this report. PIty as it could have been great on Bluray..

Very bad report according to readers comments:
all you have done here is quoted an already innacurate article from "which?" and then added some crazy prices (where did you get them from?) you could have at least tried to replicate the tests and seen it for yourselves then gave a judgement im no home cinema expert but i do know the difference between the formats and can clearly see the difference between the above dvd's and blu-ray's (apart from gandhi as i dont own the dvd of that to compare it too) maybe the fools were watching it on a 26" screen as even though the difference should visible (even on ghostbusters which is rather grainy but how it should look) i watch them on a large projector screen and can clearly see the difference its also totally apparent on a 40" (even my mum can tell if its not HD!) so... please back this scaremongering article up with some proer journalism or you are welcome to come to my house and i can show you how it should be done thanks

This article is lazy journalism on the back of an even lazier consumer report by an organisation that lacks the necessary skills to determine what constitutes a good transfer. Some of the comments in relation to this report are also mind-numbingly inaccurate, no doubt fuelled by the shoddiness and inaccuracy of the original article itself. Maybe Which? should give me a job - I'll point out the many and varied reasons why the Ghostbusters BD is much better than the DVD and I'll also show them where they can get The Matrix Reloaded for less than a tenner, not thirty quid! Where did they get those prices? By travelling back to 2006?

Thank you.
Ghostbusters hasn't aged a day in its quarter-century of existence, the material remaining as fresh and funny as the day it premiered in theaters. Sony's Blu-ray release does the film justice. Sporting a true-to-the-source 1080p video transfer, a solid lossless soundtrack, and plenty of bonus materials, Ghostbusters comes highly recommended.

Gets good balanced reviews on Amazon - sounds perfectly acceptable. I guess you have to take in to account that the film was made 25-odd years ago. Some of the effects will look poor, and some of the film work may come out looking a little soft - but the movie's a classic, and well worth this price on blu-ray. Heat added, copy bought. :)

Yes, it was a bad transfer. It was such a bad transfer that I got rid of my blu ray of Ghostbusters, even though I love the film so much.
