Insane money for a bike.

Insanely cheap - I agree, given the spec. Listed at £1249 in 2013.

Don't buy it then. Those who don't have an interest or appreciation for things probably shouldn't comment. Or should everyone pass judgement on what does and doesn't represent value in musical instruments?

Musician spends all his time bitterly trolling cycling threads because his music is that crap and nobody wants to listen to it. If he was a serious musician he'd no doubt have no issue paying a grand for a guitar. What a loser.

Exactly! That was the point I was making - only you said it better.

It was not reduced at all that is just sales patter.

looks like a good bike for the money.. not the best but its very upgradable in the feature, that's not to say that tiagra is any bad! but the frame is great and the rest is easily replaceable.

for a giant frame its a good price.. PX ALU with tiagra for e.g is £600 and that's regarded as one of the best bikes for the money so this at 200 extra is worth it.

Do you live in the clouds?

It's a bicycle. Has two wheels and brakes. It weighs a little less than normal bicycles. That's about it.

And you are happy paying £800+ for it.

You need help.

I don't get it. By your reasoning I guess you drive a Talbot? Or maybe a Lada, as that also 4 wheels and an engine

he also uses a computer running windows 95 and his mobile is a nokia 3210

Seems a very good price. About £1000 everywhere else. Looking for something this spec for the wife. This might be it.

I'd suggest people consider other options if looking for a new bike anytime soon. To have such an entry level group set on this frame is madness. For £80 more delivered you can get full carbon with 105 (top of the range) group set here http://www.wiggle.co.uk/moser-bikes-111-105/

With giant you pay for the brand name

£815 is cheap compared to an annual season ticket in London
£815 is cheap for a mode of transport when many people spend £500+ on a phone

I wouldn't call Tiagra "entry level" - it's as good as 105 sets from a few years ago. The current Sora groupset is actually very good and found on many £700 bikes. I'd also say that a good Alu frame, like this Giant has, is a better option than a cheap carbon frame. I don't know how good the Moser is, so your recommendation might well be right, but I wouldn't do down Tiagra or Gian Alu frames. It's a good deal.

I bought one of these from pauls last week, good thing is they let you use cycle scheme on discounted bikes (a lot of retailers don't) They do add 10% to the discount price to accommodate the scheme though but even after that this bike will cost me £600 paid over a year. Even more of a bargain.

If you are thinking about buying one check to see if you can get it through work!

Pauls choice of courier were crap though but worth it for the deal on offer.

Saying it twice doesn't make it any more true. Giant is widely recognised as a value brand.

I feel I've lost a bit of love here, personally I think over £500 is still too much for a bike, but that's all it is; my opinion. I come from an age where a good bike cost £100 quid or so. My intention was partly teasing, partly my opinion. Others clearly have different opinion's. Some of you are actually confirming the school of thought that cyclists have an aggressive streak where it's all about 1 up man ship and showing off rather than just enjoying cycling.
Others have the right to an opinion on cycling even if it doesn't agree with yours and I stand by mine. After all this site is supposed to be about saving money not throwing it away.
It's a question of priorities; I'd rather have a cheap bike that does the job and spend my money overpaying my mortgage. I like to throw the bike around the woods on a nice day, but I'll never think I'm the next Bradley Wiggins like some of you clearly do.
I don't do apologies when I'm correct, but for anyone that's got a little angry with me perhaps this link I just found will bring you some joy back.

I fear for anyones immediate well being throwing a hundred pound bike around the woods
.

I made the move from a budget hundred pound bike to a 300 pound ( 531) bike I built myself in 1986/7.

After riding someone else's 531.

There's just no comparison

This bike has an aero frame set. yes the groupset is lower end but its the frame you are buying. this bike is fantastic entry into racing, time trials and chain gangs.
as an avid club rider this is a great bike. the frame is soo important you can out put the power directly through it and not have much flex. also the components can be upgraded in time.

Yes but to upgrade to complete 105 groupset would set you back approx. £300-£400

Which is why you'd do it in a few years when parts of the Tiagra starts to get worn and you'd extend the life of your bike and get an upgrade. In many ways I wish the 2300 on my bike would cause me some issues though ;)

With the state of the roads round my way it's better to use a mountain bike!
