I've been looking for a decent bike for just a few notes and found this. It meets my desire for a good brand and components with the added benefits of fitted mud guards and rack. Its been superseded by a newer model which doesn't have the front suspension etc but I prefer this model to be honest.

This is the cheapest price anywhere and only Cyclestore and Ashcycles come close - £241 and £265 respectively. jejames only have the XL - 23" but I'm quite tall with dangly legs so it suits me fine LOL!

I'm sure the more knowledgeable bikers will let me know if this is a good deal.

Good price for what it is IF you're a 6ft 3inch - 6ft 7inch man - it's a 23" XL frame!

I've tried it myself before in a 21" and it feels OK. I wouldn't recommend it to those who are looking for speed or style. Found it handled like a Boris bike! I like the look of the CRS 4.0 though, which felt really good to ride.

I have the '07 21inch model (I''m 6'2" tall) and it's brilliant - I even strapped PCs onto the rack for work as it was quicker around town than my car :)
As for speed, it's slower than a dedicated road bike but a lot better than a mountain bike thanks to the better gearing and 700 rims.

I went round to Evans to get measured up and although I'm just over 6ft tall, I came out as XL because of my long legs! It's never going to be as fast as a road bike but it should be great for getting about town.

The general consensus is that when you stand over the bike (not on the seat) with your feet flat on the ground there should be around 1-2 inches of room between the top frame of the bike and your crotch. Of course, it depends on your body as some have longer legs than others. I just want to clarify to people that it's an XL 23" frame and they should get sized up before buying any bike really, or test it out first.

You might want to state it's 23" frame only in the title. It will help out a few people and you might get it hotter in here!

Looks like a decent all-rounder. Can't knock the price. Giant bikes are generally good.

I thought this would be hotter than this looking at the quality of the bike and the price? I've now received mine and, although I've not put it together (it comes with the front wheel, handlebar and saddle removed) it looks absolute quality.

Maybe it's not as god a deal as I thought? Where are all the bike experts when you need them. (_;)

In typical Giant style, a good package at a good price in the first place, so this saving is good.

It is an XL, though so unless you're tall, you'll want to try it first.

Sizing is a bit more complicated than just having a couple of inches over the top tube, but making sure you don't bash the family jewels is a prudent starting point!

Looks good for the money, if this is the sort of bike you are after. A bit too comfort orientated for my tastes though.

Voted hot.

Delivered now. It looks great - one for minimum 6 footers though! Came with bike mostly assembled but for front wheel, stem, handlebars and front mudguards. Had to take to my local bike shop to be fixed and checked over. Good thing I did as they said a few things were not tightened up and needed checking.

I agree its a comfort bike and I won't even need padded shorts etc to ride it due to front and seat post suspension :p
