not a bad buy for anyone that has no need to spend a fortune on a bike but wants one thats not going to fall apart

edinburgh bike co-op have a 15% sale ending on 28/3 , terms and conditions apply, from what i can gather as far as the mountain bikes are concerned the 2010 bikes that are already reduced and specialized bikes are not included but plenty of 2011 bikes, low and high spec

I dont know anything about bikes except mine is knackered (cost £69 from Aldi and was great for about five years). I just need one to get to work but dont care if its a good make or anything. Im tempted to just get another for £70 as I could get three for the price of this and that would last me 15 years based on my last one. Any thoughts people?

If you get this you'd actually enjoy cycling to work;)

Most people do not need forks to get to work.

I love cycling away from work but I dont think the best bike in the world would make me enjoy going there.

Do they post these bikes or do you have to go to the nearest store? Do they come fully assembled? I cant find the answers on the site but they are probably right in front of my nose.

Update - Found it - it comes assembled and can be delivered or collected from store.

I'm 6ft 5 with an inside leg measurement of 34 inches. Does anyone know if the XL here would be good?

hehe.. was overpriced. still nothing too special imho. the CRC deal a week ago was better and cheaper.
if you're riding to work, you're probably riding on road? so buy a road bike or a hybrid.

CRC = Chain Reaction Cycles. The deal from last week was:

Jamis Trail X1 Mountain Bike- Alu Frame - £150 Delivered @ Chain Reaction Cycles
Cheaper, I've personally no idea if it's comparable or better...... incidentally, the current 2011 version of the bike is £229 new at Evans Cycles, so perhaps not quite as good a saving as CRC suggest?

Agree you'd be better with a hybrid or road bike as opposed to a mountain bike if you're mainly cycling on roads to work though....

Thanks mac_d. I ordered the CRC one. Seems like a step up from my £70 full suspension crap thing. I only cycle 1.5 miles so it doesnt really matter if its a hybrid/road over that distance. I would prefer something I can "play" on at weekends too.

Cheers everyone for the advice.

Careful with those frame sizes though, biggest is 17 which is still rather small!
