The next cheapest is £90 more and some stores still sells it for £369 plus

The 2009 model cost £600 and to be honest isn't a huge difference so I think this is a bargain.

The reviews for the 2008 model is excellent too!

They only have these frame sizes in the new '09 model also. Most other outlets are the same.
STP means Street, Trails, Park so I guess that smaller frames are used in the type of biking that this is designed for.

Que all the snobby ***** who spend more on a bike than most do on a small car who will come on and say : "its no good as a bike at this price it wouldn't be of any use on perfectly smooth, perfectly level tarmac roads with no traffic of any kind because it would simply kill you when you run over a worm or an ant, buy a real bike for a minimum of £3000 or you will die a horrible, horrible death!!

Phew that's tiring :p

Hot. If I didnt have my bmx cruiser which is of similar proportions (minus gears) then I'd probably go for this.

As for £200 on a bike, I've spent that twice in the last year and it's fairly cheap. My next bike shall be around £400 and thats pretty cheap for a decent bike.

This is a fair price for a very well rounded jump/play bike. The frame is used throughout the range up to the top spec STP Zero which has a RRP of £650. You're essentially getting a very high spec frame on a budget, so you can upgrade as you ride. I'm pretty sure the frame alone retails for £200 RRP.

But bare in mind this is a bike aimed at dirt jumping, park riding and 4X courses. No good for 4 hour cross country rides, though it will cope with blasting rhrough trail centres better than most other jump focussed bikes.

How dare you!!

i purchased a refurb bike from the sun newspaper which is way better than this it has 18 speed TWIST gears and only weighs 50kg. The gears are shimano and i have v brakes

Mine also has front suspension back suspension middle suspension side suspension and its yellow so it stands out to make me look good with my chavy mates.

VOTED HOTTT!!;-)

Reporting for duty, sir! :-D
I'm torn... I want to slate it, but I can't as A) it seems a relatively good budget bike for the price and B) I ride a Giant myself (Trance Advanced)

The chavs round you area must have more about them than the ones round here. Usually they don't have the motivation to get into anything as demanding as this. They just hang around shops and go for rides in their mate's chavvy cars!

Pretty cheap as in for a decent mountain bike with disc brakes. One I plan to be taking off road and using every day for fairly long rides. (Where my 24" bike doesent really fit the bill).

As for cheap, it's taken me a year to save up for, stupid bills. :)

If it's not snobby to preface your comment with faux French then I don't know what is.
I'd be near the front of any queue to deprecate such snobbery.

It is a good deal. Most £200 bikes are really bad, horrible forks etc. Atleast this has rigid forks (an upgrade from cheap suspension forks!) and hayes brakes.

Jump bikes are for idiots though in this roadie and XC'ers view.

If you're over 5 and a half feet or so this bike is going to feel pretty small for all day riding.

So this Is not something I should be getting for commuting to work and a sponsored bike ride thats coming up soon?

Oh no, this bike wont be suitable for commuting or the bike ride.

Whats your budget and the distance of your commute and bike ride and I'll see if I can help with something more suitable. :)

Cheers, I will go upto £300 but hopefully closer to £200. Its only a couple of miles to work the bike ride is gonna 25 miles. Not really gonna be using to bike of road but would nice if I could.

This would be ideal mate

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=25442

Depending on your height, it would fit all your requirements and is outstanding value!

http://hotukdeals.com/item/356864/beone-2008-bike-sale-price-drop-cha/

For the commute, the stock tyres will be fine but for the 25mile ride, you could buy a set of slick tyres for about £25 that will make it earlier for you on tarmac.

Thanks! alot cheaper than the bike I was looking at, was looking at this:

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/scott/sportster-p6-2009-hybrid-bike-ec016321

at 5.7 would the 17" be the right size?

Generally speaking 17" frame would be right for 5ft 7" but to be sure I would always recommend trying the bike before buying.

The Scott bike looks sweet so it depends on how much you want to spend. Either one would be a great choice in my opinion.
