Its like a flavoured glaze they put on the bread as it bakes, gives it a lovely flavour! I highly recommend that you try it!

hot!

"£1 @tesco.com" would look good in the thread title :)

if it's the one with the cheese like topping, it's flippin horrid.

Personal opinion of course.

I think the coating is a rice paste, but yes seasame oil is the oil used in tiger bread.

Tiger bread is made with sesame oil and with a pattern baked into the top made by painting rice paste onto the surface prior to baking. The paste dries and cracks during the baking process, creating a two-colour effect similar to a tiger's markings, hence the name. The rice paste crust also gives the bread a distinctive flavour. It has a crusty exterior, but is soft inside. Typically, Tiger bread is made as a white bread bloomer loaf or bread roll, but the technique can be applied to any shape of loaf: Some bakeries call their rolls Tiger paws, and their Baguettes Tiger's tails

I thought Tiger's had stripes. Anyway, thanks for your post, I'm off to Sainbury's to hunt one down.

I don't go to Tesco much now as most their instore staff are unhelpful and often rude. I find Sainbury's staff polite and happy to help. Healthier too.

maybe its because you go in there with a chip on your shoulder, the staff in Tesco are fine with everyone else.

Come to ASDA, it's the future.

And we are all friendly I promise :-p Saying that, I've never met anyone working in any supermarket who has been rude to me!

My wife insists that Asda's tiger loaf is best and they will slice it for you if you want. I'm not going to argue with her. ;-)

Yes but Sainsbury's is the worst tasting. me and the missus love this bread and we have tried at every store near us. Our ranking would be:

Asda, Tesco, Morrisions, Sainsburys

Morrisons even do Tiger roll's now as well, they are great and I take em for me pack up every day...tasty :)

Agree that it's not really a deal.
Can't believe how hot this is, it's a loaf of bread.
Disagree that it freezes well, no bread does and i never freeze bakery products, do as the French do and buy fresh daily.
Bread that has been frozen is only good for the toaster.

they are called Tiger paws, delicious. ps the 73p bread featured is the smaller one, not the large one on offer.

The 73p one is 800 grams, so that is just over 9p per 100grams. This £1 one on offer is 1000 grams, 10p per 100 grams.

The picture of the Tiger Bread from Sainsbury's is two years old!! :?
Actual price of Sainsbury's 800g Tiger Bread is £1.09

:) Life's to short to have a chip on one's shoulder! I think the staff at my local Tes are proberly stressed out and over worked. Do you work for Tesco?
