Was with giffgaff for years whole family until I said to someone at work why are you with Vigin when they are only 3G, she said to me I get 20Mb we did a speed test, I got 2Mb, yes 2. A few months ago their Managing Director was singing the praises on their forums about how much profit they were making, allowing O2 to reinvest in the network. Reinvest is a good thing but sadly O2 system, O2 and tesco get the top speed while giffgaff get the scraps. They are losing customers in high numbers but oddly managing to replace them but that won't last long. Tried others at home and sadly o2 has the best signal so went with Tesco after trying a few, 25Mb all day long. Do like giffgaff but won't be going back while they rob their loyal customers of speed.

i ditched giffgaff too recently and switched to 3. giffgaff network has become rubbish. reducing data speed to something barely useable after the 6gb goes. even google maps won't work on the slow speed. was with them for years too.

same here, with EE now and the difference is up to the sky. they became worst than Vectone

Speeds are reduced to 2G (not 3G), if you can connect at all, once you've used your 6GB allocation which makes this Goodybag pointless.
This is also the standard price.

Unless you're unwilling or unable to get a contract, this is not good value as there are plenty of sim only threads on here which provide more data for this price.

20gb on Virgin 4G for £15 at the mo.

yes speeds on giffgaff are significantly slower. this is down to the licencing agreement between giffgaff and O2.

O2 is providing exactly what they agree to

yet another person who thinks any giffgaff "deal" is an actual deal. heavens above!

I got the same deal on 3, Unlimited/unlimited & 4GB for £10pm through sainsburys phone shop.

Don't think you can call it a licensing deal when it's fully owned by o2 themselves. Reason it's slow is because it's cheaper than o2 much cheaper and hit their o2 business or their 50% share in tesco, had hoped Sky would change that but their offer is just well let's leave it there.

Speed reduces from slow to slower?
lol , indeed, but its a good basic value from the point that theres no credit checks, its capped.. and you can load it with data whenever you feel like it vs every month

switched to giffgaff recently as the service is better at home and thinking of moving again after the hash they make of porting your number. Took 10 days - and they dont tell you when they dont make the promised date.

Giffgaff speeds aren't even 4G. They're basically 2G on steroids, also it's better to go to Virgin for £15 a month to get 20gbs 1500,Unlimited on 4G

now now, you post a deal you have to accept it for what it is, and sadly this is not a deal from a very poor company :( better luck next time

I joined giffgaff in 2012 after Orange sent me shock bill. I knew right from the beginning the data speed was rubbish but at that time you could get unlimited data for £10 per month. But slowly they started the price hike and service started getting from bad to worse. Finally in January I took a Virgin Media contract SIM only. For £15 unlimited texts, 5000 minutes and 20 GB data + WhatsApp and FB free with rollover of the leftover data from the previous month. Data speed is excellent and now that wife has moved to EE from Giffgaff I know EE has even better data speed. I don't think I would ever consider giffgaff again unless they improve their service quality.

Never understood how Virgin data speeds are slower than EE. Virgin play off EE don't they?

Virgin uses EE infrastructure and provides very good data speeds. They use the bandwidth which they have agreed upon with EE. I am not a rocket scientist but the speed is excellent for my day to day tasks. Downloads are completed in a couple of seconds and videos never buffer. They provide the data speed exactly as advertised. But to me the biggest advantage is data roll over, that is I get it rolled over and added to the next month's data. Practically I have now unlimited data for my use with a very good speed. I can't compare Virgin to Giffgaff because it would be unfair. You only compare products and services which are alike.
