These are paid out of PAYG credit - and are not contracts, and have no credit check, and you can leave at any time. All calls to others on Giff Gaff are free for three months after crediting your phone.
THE GIFF GAFF SALE has been extended to the 5th of September. This is currently dropped the prices of to...
£17.50 unlimited calls, unlimited texts and unlimited internet package (you can buy two months worth now - one active and one queued - normal price per month £35 per month but becoming £30 per month on the 6th of September) - This works out at £15 a month for two months if you visit their site and ask a member for a sim.
£7.50 for 300 mins calls, unlimited texts and unlimited internet package to (you can buy two months worth now - one active and one queued - normal price £15 per month) - This works out at £5 a month for two months if you visit their site and ask a member for a sim.
£5 for 100 mins calls, unlimited texts, and unlimited internet. The normal price for this is a tenner, but from 6th September it will include 150 mins rather than 100. This works out at £2.50 a month for two months if you visit their site and ask a member for a sim.
In addition to this 0800 numbers are free - so you can even use 1899, 18585, 18866 through it if you have it registered for your home phone already - although many of Giff Gaffs prices are cheaper!
From the 6th of September - there will also be two other new packages, and one old package made irrelevant by the sale returns...
600 mins, unlimited texts, and unlimited internet package for £20 a month.
A new weird package, where you pay £5 a month - but it then makes all your calls cost 2p per min, and all your texts cost 1p per min. This one has internet included too - but only 100 meg a day which MAY end in december.
£5 gets you unlimited internet and unlimited texts for a month - but no calls which will be charged at the standard 8p per minute.
If you click on the link shown to take you to the deal - it takes you to the Giff Gaff forum. Asking for a sim there gets you one with £5 credit free and the person sending it gets the same too. So if you want sims for all your family - get the first one that way - then you yourself supply the sims for the rest of them - so you are getting £20 credit for each tenner you buy.
So even just using the referral for yourself gets you the 2 months of 300 mins call etc mentioned in the heading for a tenner.
All charges for the above are taken from your PAYG credit, so you can change as often as you want - bigger packages - smaller packages - no restrictions.
If you choose not to have one of these packages - the internet is still free - but NOT unlimited - just limited to 100 meg a day (so still more than some current 'unlimited' packages elsewhere), Calls cost 8p for landlines and mobiles and 4p for texts.
Lastly - the Giff Gaff forum is basically its customer services for most things, and the site is where you select what you want. So you need internet access to change packages etc. But you are also PAID if you post or answer questions on their site.
Roughly a post a week would get you the 300 min package free for a month by December - posting more pays more.
Sending an email to a friend suggesting they join gets you 50p and you get £5 for everyone who joins - so the chance to drop your costs even further.
Lastly - there is an option of topping up directly from your bank/credit card if your credit is low - so you can use this if you want it to mimic a contract - although you would still need to log on every second month to select a package/s if you wanted one (without selecting - it would automatically revert to 8p calls 4p texts PAYG style).
The only bad things I can see is that the free internet is used so heavily - that if you are using a Finaria/Betamax VOIP then the quota for that ISP is effectively automatically passed - so you can make no free inclusive calls with them.
Its worth adding this is through Finaria/Betamax limiting the number of free calls through a given IP, and nothing to do with Giff Gaff, other than its increase in popularity!
