A new pay-as-you-go MVNO backed by O2 just launched and has some interesting pricing.

What caught my eye was the free data for 6 months and free 0800 calls (£10 top up required). They also offer free calls/text on the same network.26

They have some unusual scheme where you can earn points (and subsequently money) by different ways like referring friends and helping their support forums.

Pricing is below:

To giffgaff mobiles, texts, call forwarding and video calls £0.00
Other UK mobiles and landlines, call forwarding £0.08
Other UK mobiles and landlines texts £0.04
Voice mail per call £0.08
Handset browsing (for 6 month from launch) £0.00 per MB
Picture messages to giffgaff and other mobiles £0.16
Video calls to other mobiles £0.50
Call forwarding to other mobiles and landlines £0.08
0800 £0.00

Just to add - you need to top up by £10 to get the SIM.

Calls between GiffGaff SIMs are free if less than an hour.

Some good features.

Not if you program the prefix 0800 number into all your address book contacts (When I was using 0800 dial-through with Orange yonks ago, I just set everyone up with an alternate number

Does that work by entering the freephone number then the landline number with the 'p''s in-between?

Yep, that's it

You will also need to register the mobile number with the call provider first, of course.

Just Like to say I have recently joined the giffgaff network and I have found them to excellent. I personally have not had any problems with them.

8p per minute calls & free giffgaff to giffgall calls. Blows the sox off other providers.
