Would this make a good gaming motherboard?

Would this make a good gaming motherboard?

Yes I have this motherboard with a similar E6500 cpu and GTS 250 graphics card. You will obviously have to add an appropriate graphics card to this motherboard.

Nice find. It's a budget motherboard (£35/£40), but very nicely put together. Fitted one last week to someone's toasted Acer and was extremely impressed with it. Would definitely use these again.

NZXT Gamma? Can't really go wrong for the price.

Any recommendations on 4 GB or Ram for this?

Any recommendations on 4 GB or Ram for this?

If you need memory you might want to look at the E6500 combo with 4GB ram at Scan Today Only for £138:

Currys also if you already have an account with them

It also comes up in pc world when you search on Google, but I cant find it on their site.

Pretty good deal!

Looking here I don't see the new series of Intel chips listed, does this mean it won't work with the i3/i5/i7 range?

No, they're different sockets.

Seen this in loads of stores. I went for a different package in the end: E3200 + mobo + cooler deal for £49.97 (-£5 off voucher of course :-)

I then also, seperatly from PCWorld, bought a Gigabyte EP41-UDL3L for £35 (after voucher). Gonna sell the mobo which came with the bundle (Tiny little ECS G41T-M5), and keep the E3200 processor.

There a a few of these left @ Moorgate PCworld, london.

I know its not directly comparable, but still :-)

i m hardware novice but thinking of having a go to make a third CPU for myself.
Could anyone kindly tell me what RAM and PSU and suggested graphic card please?
Thanks in advance.

If you need to buy all the other parts you are probably better off getting a discounted pre-built PC (like the one above).

Would have been hot last year but Cold now IMO, I do this for a living.

And I have also had an E7200 + G31M-ES2L.

Now you can get a Phenom II X2 555 3.20GHz (On the same level as an E8400) & an AM2+ board for £100.

You will be paying over the odds as the single 4GB chip configuration is expensive. Is there a reason you need 8GB ram as would be better investing the money on 2x2GB and using the extra money towards either a better GPU or maybe a SSD drive

Interested to know where you get these for £100, best I can find is £72 for the CPU

They will fit ... you just need to use a bigger hammer (_;)

Supports “up to 1 floppy disk drive” — the vast continuum between no floppy drive at all, and an entire whole complete floppy drive.
suspended#28
nice price, shame there's no modern connections on the back of the motherboard though :(

No modern connections? USB - Ethernet - VGA - PS2 and all sound ports still widely used.

No firewire, eSata, Displayport, DVI nor HDMI is what the OP was refering to I should think, esp as you can get those on budget boards I spec'd a machine up the other day with a £30 board that had HDMI on it
#33
E7xxx overpriced. An E6600 performs better @ under £56 from ebuyer.

Was it an Intel board - only seen HDMI on budget AMD boards.

doesnt have RAID.
#37
Think you guys are being ridiculous for what amounts to a £30 board made by Gigabyte with a guarantee.

Its good for those who want to build a basic computer. You could even use it as a games machine but with limited expansion.

DVI a n hdmi are normally on the grpahics card.

If you wnat display port, then its unlikely you would be cioughing up only £30 for a main board. More like £130.

CPU wil outperform a q6600 on most things because most stuff syill sint quad core optimised.

I've been looking at setting up a WHS, was going to go for the Intel Atom line-up but transcoding video might be an issue. Good find!
