If you look on the today only price they are £35.99, £40.52 is the delivered price if you don't qualify for free delivery.

Not that amazing. This board is now two generations of our date and doesn't support any of the current generation processors

Or you buy this, get a used 2500k and get 10%lessperformance for 1/2 the cost of a 4690k and z97 based board.
Video and photo editors would gain more performance from latest gen, gamers would save a fortune.

Its a good deal, This board is over £50 at Amazon.
Some people like me choose to be generations behind, because we don't like to pay the inflated prices for modern tech.
For example, I have got this board & a 3570k for under £100. I love a bargain.

That doesn't sound good, 10% of something for 50% of the cost can't be what you mean.

Do you mean 10% less? ie. 90% of the performance of 4690k with z97 motherboard? That sounds like a great idea if that's the case. I'm not really keeping up to date with new cpus and what have you. The console ports from the new boxes shouldn't really stress an intel quad core unless they're doing something wrong.

I have this board, with a 3570k and 16gb of 1600mhz vengeance ram, and it runs like a dream. Great price, and if you don't need the latest version of things then this could be the basis of a great system. Hot.
#14
Got this too. Is a really nice rock solid board. Great price too.
#15
This board is also good for Hackintosh builds too.

cold, its scam (a.k.a. scan)

Only ever had one problem with Scan myself (an already opened pack of blu ray disks with writing on a label of one disk) sent me out another pack the very next day, no quibble. Other than that faultless same day despatch and brilliant City Link timed delivery slots (having free next day delivery from AV forums)

Most attrocious company in the UK.
Buy at your peril.
Fine if your item does not go faulty but if it does go bad after 3 months you are on your own.
Good luck!!!!

Wouldn't be a scan deal thread without at least one anti-scan comment, well at least we know the world isn't coming to an end, hell isn't going to freeze over, and other such cliches ;)

I'm looking to get a new motherboard, CPU, 8gb Ram bundle for under £200, primarily for photo editing (lightroom). Was planning on building around an i5 4440 but would I be better off with last gen? Any advice welcome. Thanks
#25
I've never had a problem with Scan and I've ordered their around 10 times.

On another note, I got this mobo a couple of years ago and its still running strong. Only thing I will say, it is very poor for overclocking!
#26
Ouch, in just a year the price is less than half :-( things don't hold they're value long in this game. Tech needs to slow down a bit :-P

Personally used them for 16 years, only stopped when I encountered their partial refund policy on items over 6 months old that they could not repair or replace (N.B. not 3 months as they have to prove at that stage and also has to be where the only option is they can only refund). In this situation they define the expected life to be the warranty term and deduct the amount paid divided by the warranty term times the number of months left for the refund (i.e. 12 months warranty fails after 11 months they will offer you 1/12th what you paid) - in this case the board is so cheap and has 3 years warranty if they couldn't repair/replace would it matter to write it off? - but nearly every competitor of Scan have a better refund policy (i.e. as a customer you would be better off) in this specific situation (CCL excluded).

At which point you remind scan of the Sale of Goods Act.

Very good mobo for hackintosh. This needs very little work to get running
#32
dream price for a hackintosh. Hot

Pardon my ignorance but aren't Apple targetting high end hardware (which they charge an absolute fortune for)?

Why would getting a 3rd gen board be any easier to port Hackintosh to? I've never done any Hackintosh porting, doesn't Apple restrict the distribution of its OS to, er, itself?

Unsure if Apple software or 4/5th gen Intel support is more important.

At which point they would remind you as partial refunds are defined in the SOGA - the means of calculating is not defined and down to interpretation and here there are differences between companies. Pre-empting your next suggestion of taking to court may pay off but may also not leaving you with costs as well as time and effort expended - hence I just avoid scan and why some people call them scam

Cue the hysterical laughter :p

Thanks for the much need laugh, after seeing the usual rubbish being posted on this site(which I thought was meant to be deals site but has boiled down to the same 'deals' being posted due to the easy heat along with wild geese being let loose all the time).

Scan are excellent. I have had some problems with products delivered in the past. They collected them within 3 days via courier once instructions were given how to repackage and slap a print out label. Got a refund back twice and once got a refund and a replacement. All 3 problems were resolved within 7 working days.
Usually one of the cheapest etailers around too.
Those who use Bit Tech and Hexus can get free delivery from active use of forums.
All other products have worked amazingly, and have great company warranties attached to all their products

Nah they were not trading as vampires last time I looked;)
CCL use the same calculation on partial refunds in this specific situation as Scan - never been in that situation with CCL but asked all the companies I purchase IT parts from to understand what their policies are following Scan offering me a refund that meant I could only buy something half the capacity that had failed after 6 months. Personally have had some great trades with CCL and being just up the road from me I would still purchase last minute items needed that they offer great value on - just I would avoid both on more expensive goods where the warranty was of value.

If the item was still in warranty did it occur to you to contact the manufaurar if you weren't happy with scan/ccl?
