Definitely the best card at this price range. Really good brand and cooler plus you get a free game. Been waiting for a big name brand to go below £600. A comparable MSI is £620 and its not as good as this one is. Plus most people will probably be getting Gears 4 and you're saving yourself another £30ish there too ;)

Hopefully going to order mine tomorrow. I'll not say anything else as if you're looking at this I imagine you know the details anyway ;)

Yeah a bit worried they'll go out of stock but hopefully they don't. Can't see a similar deal coming soon tbh even though they are destined to drop a bit.

Yep I agree. What can you do though if you want one. This is actually cheap for one of this calibre.

It's not holding this value for long, already selling for less on ebay.

Well not really. Any cheaper ones on eBay are either second hand founders editions or shipping from America and you would have to pay import tax upon delivery.

Although these are really expensive don't forget the gtx Titan was always very expensive and you actually only need the 1070 in most cases. The 1080 is the new ultra high end at the minute, as the Titan was before it.

The 1070 is going to be the big seller in this range.

How is this better than the MSI card?

If you think Nvidias current flagship "isn't going to hold value for long" then you clearly can't have much experience with high end gpus. It quite literally took the release of this card for the 980ti to get a decent price drop....

Before everyone jumps on this card because it's less than £600, please know that it's been less than £600 (and as low as ~£583) for over a month. Check SkinFlint and StaticIce for 1080s before impulse-buying.

I paid £560 when I pre ordered from Amazon.

On ebuyer? Overclockers has this on at £680 scan has it at 630 I think. I'm not arguing with you I've just been keeping an eye and not see it before.

Just gonna say (not in a moaning way) I don't think most people understand this post as the amount of cold votes it's got. While these are expensive they are aimed at the enthusiast and not your regular everyday user. Those people will get a 1070 max. The people buying these will have spent a fortune on monitors and VR headsets too, which are also ridiculously expensive as these three technologies, VR, 144hz gsync and these ridiculously fast, cool and quiet cards are all new and high end. Therefore they all have high end prices.

It's like going out to buy a car. You don't have the option between an Insignia and an Audi R8. They are different price ranges completely.

If you're going to build a high end pc now it's nearly the worst time ever to do it as it will cost you a fortune. Intel and nvidia have no competition at all. Motherboards are so overpriced now it's just daft. DDR 4 is another rip off too.

The people getting all these things are doing it as a hobby as well and not just simply to fifa.

Just check SkinFlint with this link (might want to keep it bookmarked if you're looking for a 1080):
http://skinflint.co.uk/?cat=gra16_512&asd=on&asuch=gtx%201080

G1 Gaming - Currently OOS, but back in stock every few days in large volume - £594.55:
At IT-Supplier.co.uk

Also the Windforce OC - Admittedly not quite as good as the G1 Gaming - £576.69:
At AriaPC

I didn't check delivery on those two links FYI... Can't imagine it being more than a tenner.

If you're not in a hurry, it'd be good to see if the 1080Ti materialises in CES Jan 2017 from all the rumours going about. That will reduce the 1080's price further. And you can consider getting the Ti instead.

What's the difference between the G1 Gaming and Windforce OC?

What's the difference between the G1 Gaming and Windforce OC?

I think the G1 looks a little sleeker but from what I can tell the coolers are virtually identical. The primary difference is the clock speeds.

Windforce:
Boost: 1797 MHz / Base: 1657 MHz in OC mode
Boost: 1771 MHz / Base: 1632 MHz in Gaming mode

G1 Gaming:
Boost: 1860 MHz / Base: 1721 MHz in OC mode
Boost: 1835 MHz / Base: 1695 MHz in Gaming mode

So realistically it's probably negligibly faster. Then you take into account GPU Boost 3.0 which will proabbly take them to parity. Literally every 1080 falls within a very small OC range. You're better off getting the coolest, quietest and best looking card. Don't worry too much about out-of-the-box clocks.

Yeah no problem. Honestly (and I know people are going to disagree) I'd have recommended the £539.99 Palit Jetstream (2 separate offers expired earlier today) over this card. The Gigabyte 1080s have been reported to coil whine horribly and are also pretty loud (3 x smaller fans) while not keeping the card much cooler than the founders edition. Just look for some reviews of the G1 Gaming to see what I mean.

If you're thinking of spending the £577 on the Windforce OC, I'd recommend the Palit GameRock Premium. Comes with a higher stock clock (1885Mhz boost) than the G1 Gaming and is also quieter and cooler. It looks like **** for anything other than a blue/white system but you can just spray-paint the shroud black.

1080 not that much better than 980ti. Over clocking 10xx series are terrible anyway. Wait for 1080ti

1080 benchmarks vs 980ti have improved since the launch ones because of optimized drivers.I assume your 'not much better' statement is referring to the early benchmarks?

I've gone from a 980ti to a 1080 and don't regret it one bit. Noticeably faster... but the biggest advantage for me is the drop in power usage/temp. My 980ti would idle at 50-60c...the 1080 is at 40c and doesn't get much hotter when gaming. Also as a result its dropped my CPU and general system temps...

Yeah a lot of people are only looking at the power of the 10 series but the other benefits are too hard to ignore. Power draw and less heat are massive things ;) especially for me as my case is smallish and quite portable
